can’t have been a Glock because you can basically throw them on the ground and they still won’t go off, so I ma curious as to what kind he had.

Not that this journo would know the difference between a SIG and Glock or a single to double action

A pocket holster also disguises the outline of the gun and does a pretty good job of keeping it oriented appropriately in your pocket.
Don’t believe that your trigger is so hard and long that it is safe with no pocket holster, don’t pocket carry without a pocket holster.
Don’t pocket carry a gun with an external safety and expect the safety to stay on.
Obviously some guns are not suited to pocket carry at all.
Take a class, research best practices. It is your responsibility to carry right or don’t carry.

I carry with a round in the chamber and the pistol doesn’t have a safety. I haven’t shot myself either.

Good job. I thought it odd that they didn’t name the prof.

Don’t run with scissors, don’t spit into the wind, and don’t piss on an electric fence.

Keep your class, you need it.

You are exactly right.
I carried in my pocket (when I was a newbee) and a wise friend kindly told me about pocket holsters.
I bought one for about $10 and it made the experience so much more secure and safe.
Glad the professor got a second chance to learn how to carry properly.
That would be a good class for all faculty and first semester students.

More like a 1911 model or SIG P-238, cocked but not locked.

Popular sidearms.

Article says it was a semi-automatic. That’s a wheel gun.

It could have been a Glock, because Glocks WILL go off if something pulls (or pushes) the trigger.

That trigger push or pull doesn’t have to be intentional, and it doesn’t have to be a finger. It could be a keyring or a chapstick or ...

The more I think about it, it HAD to be a Glock, because it wasn't an M-16 or an AK-47... :-)

I hear you dude. I can't count the times the ER nurses look at me and say, "another accidental gun discharge? Chapstick in the holster again? What flavor was it this time Wild Bill?"

Even with one, never put your keys (or anything else) in that pocket.

I didn’t even need a PHD to know this.

That would be my guess along w/ fingering the trigger. Having a PhD != being intelligent.
