Luckily my team which is your old Dallas Texans needs more help on the other side of the ball. That being said with Bowe and our starting right tackle being suspended and the rest of the offensive line being in disarray, Andy Reid is going to have to come up with some game plan to beat the Titans.
I’m thinking Stafford has a big bounce-back season.
I loathe Goodell.
His daddy was a Left-Wing RINO Senator from NY (appointed after RFK died) so he’s a chip off the old block.
Spiro Agnew compared Goodell’s daddy to a transsexual due to his becoming a hardcore liberal once in the Senate (he was moderate conservative in the House)
Agnew could have been a cool President.
Goodell sucks. I predict he’ll be forced out as Commisar within the next 3-4 years.
Agnew called it the way he saw it, that’s for sure.
“The League” starts tonight @ 10 PM Eastern on FXX.
You might not like him, but as a commissioner he’s doing the job well. League revenues do nothing but grow (the TV contracts alone will give the league more money than the entire MLB revenue), ratings are solid, attendance is good, new stadiums keep getting built, merch is flying off the shelves. Nobody is forcing him out, they’ve quadrupled his salary in the last 3 years.
Texans traded for Ryan Mallet from the Pats. He might play.
So, he’s going to kill the game with the silly rule changes and the stupid idea of marketing to women. I can take a week or two of pink crap for “awareness” (I hate that term) but the entire month of October? Overkill.
Now this stupid “spousal abuse” rule? No, that will never be abused!! /s
We’ll see. If the players were to revolt, he’d be gone. No players = no revenues.
Rule changes are a constant in all sports. Women are over half the population. October is breast cancer awareness month. And Goodell doesn’t like bad PR, which Rice brought. Don’t see how you can abuse a rule like that, really it’s just part of the personal conduct policy he put in place early in his tenure, and police incidents for players have dropped a lot since then.
We already see. The players aren’t going to revolt, they like the paychecks.
Amazingly, Agnew lost Baltimore County to Mahoney (47-39.6%), but he carried Baltimore City(!) 47-37%. The last time a GOP candidate for Governor carried the city (and more than likely, he had to have carried the Black vote, given the demographics).
He still remained a liberal roughly up until the year he was picked as a running mate (only moving to the right in the face of the calamities of 1968, the rioting and social disorder). Nixon was either going with him or with the left-wing MA Gov. John Volpe (he wanted a White ethnic on the ticket). Agnew didn't help Nixon at all with Maryland, as he lost it to Humphrey (incredibly, Humphrey only won 2 counties in the entire state & Balto City, but won 44%-42%). Two entities that went viscerally anti-Agnew in 2 short years were Balto City (which went from 47% for Agnew in '66 to just 27% for Nixon-Agnew in '68) and Montgomery County (Agnew's best county statewide with 71% in 1966, to a losing 44% in '68).
Ultimately, Agnew was just an odd guy, between the penny ante kickback corruption while still in MD, though likely no worse than anything most average Dems engage in, but what he should've known better about or the strange paranoid stuff after he left office (that Nixon or Haig would have him "whacked" or the anti-Israel stuff). There's no telling what he may have done as President or what his true ideological leanings were (which might have been more of the Chuck Percy-Paul Findley vintage or just all over the map), and I question anyone who makes such a sudden shift after riding one ideology for their career. If FR had been around then, we'd have found much troubling about Agnew (his barbs at the media aside). Gov. Reagan would've been the better bet for '68.
Easy to abuse. First, how many spouses are going to report a second incident if it means a full year of no money?
Also, how many spouses and girlfriends will lie and report an “incident” just to get back at a player for what ever reason. Humans aren’t rational.
As to breast cancer awareness being the entire month of October that’s fine. But it doesn’t mean you have to acknowledge it in every single game for an entire month.
Yes, rule changes happen. But to give fines for “dunking” the ball over the goal post? I find that silly along with some of the other rule changes that make no sense. I’m waiting for the day they ban tackling! lol
Finally, the women I know, including my wife, consider it pandering and just want to see the game played.
That’s not abusing the rule. That’s avoiding the rule. And if you’re going to say the league shouldn’t punish abusers who get caught because some other women might not report it well frankly that’s just stupid. Women will report or they won’t, there are many sad and unfortunately reasons women don’t report, none of which make a reason to not punish those that get caught.
When Deana Favre got diagnosed with breast cancer the league decided that was a bandwagon they wanted to jump on. I don’t see why people get so upset with some pink showing up on the screen. Really, get over it. Meanwhile the Komen thing is starting to get seriously played out, like all other disease charities, and will probably fade away from everywhere, including the NFL, over the next few years.
You might find the punishment silly, others find the behavior silly. Also it occasionally gets offensive, and slows the game down. Really look at all the silly stuff baseball batters do before getting into the box and ask yourself if football would really be better with that level of pointless crap in the game. Most of the rule changes make sense to me, especially if you pay attention to the players getting injured.
Yep, it’s pandering. Another word for that is “public relations”. The entire MLB is on pace for 8 billion in revenue this year, the NFL is making 9 billion from the TV contracts alone. The money says you’re in the minority.
....he could be a center
We were glad to see him go.
My predictions:
Cowboys: 7-9
Cowboys Practice Squad: No more tight ends nor wide receivers
