75 years ago today - World War II

Posted on 09/01/2014 1:18:01 PM PDT by nesnah

On this day, 75 years ago, World War II began. It was started by some European megalomaniac who was trying to regain some of the land areas that his country had previously lost, but he felt those lands should be part of his country permanently again.

And, we have James Earl Obama and Neville Kerry in charge of foreign affairs.

Food for thought....

100 years ago was the battle of Le Cateau in the First
World War. It came after the retreat from Mons.
Just a note but the first English casualties were from
a friendly fire incident.

It is now bizarre thinking World War II started one half of my lifetime before I was born. Twenty five years ago is nothing. When I was a kid, and even in my 20’s the old black and white photos, and the music, and american culture of that time seemed soooo ancient and foreign, like it was a billion years ago. Now 25 years seems like 5 minutes ago.

Weichsel und Warthe (Vistula and Warta)--Military College Orchestra and Choir (1939)

Was dich auch bedrohe,
Eine heilige Lohe
Gibt dir Sonnenkraft.
Laß dich nimmer knechten;
Laß dich nie entrechten.
Gott gibt den Gerechten
Wahre Heldenschaft.

Was auch immer werde,
Steht zur Heimat Erde;
Bleibe wurzelstark!
Kämpfe, blute, werbe
Für dein höchstes Erbe;
Siege oder sterbe,
Deutsch sei bis ins Mark!

When you are threatened,
A holy fire
Gives you the power of the sun.
Never submit to servitude,
Never be disenfranchised;
God gives the righteous
True heroism.

Come what may,
Stay true to the homeland,
Remain strongly rooted
Fight, bleed, organize
For the highest honor.
Win or die,
Germans must prevail in the border area.

The Nazis used the time honored false flag pretext for war by “attacking” German border posts with German troops dressed up as Polish units. The dead bodies seen on newsreels were Polish soldiers, that’s how they got the uniforms.
This information was used during the Nuremberg trials as proof that the Nazis conspired to wage aggressive war against Poland and most of Europe.
