Lighten up Louise - RIchard Nixon appeared on Laugh In and said: “Sock it to me?” They are human, you know.

Reagan and Ike wouldn’t have done this as presidents, I don’t believe. Besides Ike had a heart condition and dunking ice cold water on him probably would not have been too good of an idea. Nixon was not president when he did Laugh In.

I'm old enough to remember the original airing. Didn't much like it. Not appropriate.

Please! The country is being destroyed from the left and right (liberal right) and if someone decided to put their name in the hat for president, are we then to turn our backs and strike them off the list because they did an ALS bucket challenge video? If that is the case then I can find more serious things that many of the potential candidates did that is wrong that should strike them from ever being seriously considered for President than any ‘unpresidential’ acts that Sarah ever has done. Oh spare us!

I know it was a tagline, but why was it so "hilarious" when Nixon said "Sock it to me?"

Way before my time.

I guess I always assumed that Nixon didn't know it was a statement. Not a question.

I loved this video.

Also can't beat that moosehead ice bucket.

Want it.

Of course not, and I never said that. What I did say is that I don't believe Palin's ALS video helped her much. Just as back then I didn't believe Nixon's Laugh-In appearance helped him much.

Either way, not a deal-maker or deal-breaker. Just my opinion on one incident.

When Nixon delivered the line, he emphasized the word "me", as if he were surprised that he could be the target of a "sock it" (whatever that was).

Odd how I can clearly remember him delivering that line (from back in the 1960's), but I can't remember where I put the book of stamps I bought yesterday.

I think she’s given up on being a ‘serious leader’, but have you seen W’s ALS challenge video?

I believe you are finally getting it. No matter who one supports they will, in the end, disappoint. The majority of Americans have shown that they do not want serious leaders solving serious problems. They want their ice bucket challenges, daily doses of football and reality shows.

I can't see any way out of this mess. Vote? Why? For who and for what?

What are they going to do with all that money?

Probably a brand new ALS Executive Office Complex. Seminars in the corners of the Earth. Fleet of transporting vehicles including planes......and..
A new Bunsen Burner

And probably a lot of commercials with Sarah McLaughlin’s “In the Arms of an Angel” as background music to raise even more money.
