A police chief in a small Texas town was shot multiple times during a traffic stop Saturday afternoon and later died, authorities said.

Michael Pimentel served in Elmendorf, a suburb southeast of San Antonio with about 1,500 residents.

According to Rosanne Hughes, spokeswoman of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, Pimentel pulled over a vehicle in a residential area. There was a struggle and Pimentel was shot, Hughes said.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office took 24-year-old Joshua Manuel Lopez into custody and he will face charges of capital murder of a police officer, said Hughes.

Anyone sees any parallels to Ferguson? Except here the policeman died and the perp lived.

I'm sure Eric will be there shortly to begin an investigation. Unless of course the deceased was, you know, a pale-face.

How horrible.

Prayers up for this officer and his loved ones.

Police are always in danger of some random nut shooting them down. I understand how enraged the police get when someone kills a fellow officer.

“I understand how enraged the police get when someone kills a fellow officer.”

While I deplore what happened here, the cops also need to understand the citizens “rage” when they kill one of us. And just so you know, I am on the side of Officer Wilson in Ferguson. He did what he had to do, but that is not always the case, particularly if the family dog is involved.

I really don’t think police officers are correct all of the time.

But given the modern lack of respect, to not only police and teachers and anybody else, I can see how they get jumpy.

It’s not a job I would want. But I darn sure want to call 911 and get a response.

Like you said...prayers up.

“Lopez had an active misdemeanor warrant for graffiti at the time he was pulled over.”

Really? He shot the guy over a misdemeanor warrant and now he’s looking a murder of a police officer? That’s just all sorts of stupid.

From what I have heard of the case officer Wilson in Ferguson did what had to be done.

I stand with him in this matter.

There have been cases where I did NOT support the police because they acted in a lawless manner.

There is nothing better than a good cop and nothing worse than a bad cop.

I bet drugs are found in Lopez’s system. How else to explain such incredible evil and stupidity.

The orbital fracture story has been discredited, but it is pretty hard to argue over the 6’4”, 290 lb. guy pushing the little store guy around. Also, if his hands were raised how did the bullets hit the front of his arms? Or at least that is how the autopsy graffic appeared.

By the lights of congress critters, both parties, Lopez was tolerated because he was supposed to pay for our social security and medical care.
Instead it looks like we we will be supporting him for 20-40 years. (At 50K @ year?)
So, again by their lights, it looks like we’ll need even more homicidal retards from south of the border to make up for all the ones going to prison.

Unlike Ferguson, there’s a very, very good chance this was on video so even Holder couldn’t play stupid games with it.

Yup. Automatic capital murder, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Not likely. Texas’ time to execution is down to 10 years and falling. Not as good as could be hoped, but certainly no 20-40 years.

Depends. Is there a decent golf course nearby?

“It’s Texas....he WILL get the needle.”

Yes. I myself personally would never murder anyone in Texas. If I wanted to murder somebody in Texas I’d have to lure them here to New Jersey or some other Northeastern state.
