Nine whites and three blacks will decide whether to charge a Missouri cop with killing 18-year-old Michael Brown.
The breakdown of the St. Louis County grand jury weighing evidence against Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson was released Friday by a state court judge at the request of Bloomberg News.
Wilson is white. Brown was black. And outrage over the unarmed teen’s killing two weeks ago fueled violent demonstrations and scattered looting in Ferguson.
While Ferguson is a mostly African-American suburb, the grand jurors were selected from a countywide pool of registered voters.
St. Louis County, which does not include the city of St. Louis, is about 23% African-American, according to U.S. Census figures.

Your skin color is not a crime, child, and if you are raised right your behavior will not be, either.
Had Brown and his homie been two white thugs and done exactly the same behavior the results would be the same, with notable exceptions.
The news story would have remained local.
There would have been no rioting or looting.
The “reverends” would not have come a’ running.
Of course the black community will play along with whatever story creates front page for any of their issues and what they can gain by doing so.
Looks like revenue will be coming into Ferguson for "help" with the black community to tailor their police dept. to reflect "color" already. So what this means in the long run...that all minorities are going to insist they have their won "people" in all areas of Governance etc....etc....etc....TO BE FAIR. Then we can watch Muslims install Shariah Law into our system as well...as they are currently striving for. I see no good end for this country as things continue to "pamper" minorities.

Money and the POWER it welds above all else. Remember the cry for “Black Power” still is heard....same with Mexicans and and Muslims. Looks like it'll be a “race” (pun intended) to see which one rises to the top.
It's so apparent that the current administration's agenda is going full tilt for minorities...and they have time to pull it off entirely before they're done.
Also, it is not likely the officer will testify. His lawyer will advise him not to testify and it's almost unheard of at the grand jury stage.
They know how to play the public emotionally and minorities are certainly all about emotional gratification over any critical thinking.
It’s not going to be about facts...rather perceptions entirely.
I don’t know the answer to how many votes to indict. This is in state court so it depends on Missouri’s rules.
I saw nowhere in the article that the police “admitted” Brown was running away when first shot at....

Does the grand jury have to be unanimous?
No. The votes of nine members are required to find a “true bill” resulting in an
indictment being “handed up.” If the grand jury determines there is no probable
cause, “No True Bill” is found and the case is over.

The Myth of Trigger-Happy White Cops

Moreover, the minds of protesters such as those in Cincinnati have, for many years, been fed a steady diet of rhetoric from “civil rights leaders” like Al Sharpton, who once stated that “the real mobsters” who prey upon the black community often “wear blue uniforms and carry nightsticks.”
Perhaps it is time that Americans were finally told the truth about the police, so they might avoid falling prey to the self-serving lies of the aforementioned, self-anointed guardians of “civil rights.”
The Bureau of Justice Statistics reports that in 1998, fully 62 percent of the 367 suspects killed by police officers nationwide were white, and 35 percent were black. In fact, police killings of white suspects have outnumbered those of black suspects in every single year since 1978.
Moreover, black officers are far likelier to shoot black suspects than are white officers. In 1998, for instance, the black-officer-kills-black-felon rate was 32 per 100,000 black officers – much higher than the white-officer-kills-black-felon rate of 14 per 100,000 white officers. While part of this disparity is due to the fact that black officers often tend to be assigned to black neighborhoods, clearly no case can be made from these numbers that white officers are in any way “trigger-happy” when confronting black suspects.
The intra-racial nature of most police shootings has existed for many years. Between 1976 and 1998, about 65 percent of homicides by police officers were against suspects of the same racial background. The rate at which white officers shoot black suspects has been declining steadily for two decades, while the rate at which they shoot white suspects has remained fairly constant over that same period. When a white officer kills a suspect today, that suspect is usually white (63 percent). When a black officer kills a suspect, that suspect is usually black (81 percent).
Overall, black officers are slightly likelier than white officers to kill a suspect in the line of duty. Indeed whites comprise 87 percent of all police nationwide, but account for only about 80 percent of homicides against criminal suspects, regardless of race. Meanwhile blacks, who constitute 11 percent of American police officers, are responsible for about 17 percent of homicides against criminal suspects.
Some readers may find this information shocking, particularly in light of the media’s and the civil rights establishment’s disproportionate focus on instances of white officers killing black suspects.

Personally, if I were the prosecutor I would put every scrap of evidence in front of that grand jury, including all defense evidence, because I would not want to duplicate the Zimmerman case by taking a weak case to trial and losing.
A Boulder grand jury refused to indict in the Jon Benet Ramsey case, but the prosecutor wanted that result. It was weird, just like Boulder and everything about that case.
I was on Grand Jury once. The only evidence presented was the DA’s witnesses. No defense. We were to decide if there was sufficient evidence to proceed to trial/plea-bargain.
I’ve got 5 bucks on Ferguson burning.
I’d make it 100, but this is still a RAT economy.
