"Mythbusters" Drops Bellaci, Byron, and Imihara from Cast
Facebook | 8/22/14 | Me

Posted on 08/21/2014 7:32:40 PM PDT by hoagy62

Now that's weird...about 15 minutes ago, Discovery Channel posted a message from the original "Mythbusters" duo of Adam savage and Jaime Hyneman. In it they wished the trio of Tory Bellaci, Grant Imihara, and Kari Byron a fond farewell and wished them "all the best".

There were no announcements from Discovery about any problems or arguments with the three prior to this. In fact, the trio represented 'Mythbusters' at the Emmy Awards just this last week.

No one saw this coming. Already, the response on the 'Mythbusters' Facebook page is off the charts.

The fans of the show are giving off a collective "WTF???". There has (as of now) been no other word from Discovery Channel about their departure.

Impressed with some of the electronic stuff Grant Imahara came up with for the show, he does some neat work!

That show “jumped the Shark” long ago.

I think they want to kill the show for some reason, possibly to fund some politicial stuff to air. I get the feeling the cast was fired the last day of fling or something like that since they didn’t get to do a on air goodbye or special.

I wonder if the trio will be doing a spinoff show, or maybe just something for the Internet.

I remember they did a show with obama. He wanted them to redo a show they already did about mirrors setting fire to wooden ships. Maybe obama did not get enough of a warm welcome from these 3?

These 3 could easily start their own show.
BTW Grant Imahara plays Sulu in Star Trek fan movies. Does a pretty decent job of it.

Discovery is more in the way of natural history, adventure, outdoor living, and animals.

No really. It’s been years that Mythbusters has ever challenged a myth that was really compelling.

After the third season, it seems that they settled into finding things to blow up.

IMDB ratings for the last couple of seasons has been volatile:

probably because so many of their demonstrations were faked to give a “safe busted” result.

Shark Week got great ratings. Sure there was lots of complaining for science people, but as long as you get the ratings you’ve got plenty of money to stuff in your ears and drown them out.

Most likely they will have their own show. Besides, they never worked with the other two anyway.

This announcement sounds like a swift hard kick out the door. If the show cared they would give the actors the first chance to have this news go out how and where the actors wanted. Doesn’t sound like a mutual split.

Kari was hotter when she first started in 2003. She’s 39 now. Time to get some fresh eye-candy. Possibly the other two were let go to not make it seem like they were getting rid of just her.

“After the third season, it seems that they settled into finding things to blow up.”

And this is a problem... how?

More seriously, they also shot at things (probably my favorite part), and built stuff. At this point their main fan base is people who enjoy watching them kibbitzing together, and the trio was much better at that than Jamie and Adam.
