Breitbart Sports ^ | August 21, 2014 | William Bigelow

Posted on 08/21/2014 10:40:11 AM PDT by EveningStar

In a touching interview with Jeremy Schaap of ESPN, Pete Rose spoke of the reasons why he gambled on baseball, acknowledging he made a terrible mistake when he gambled and also erred in signing away his future when he was suspended. Prompted by Schaap, he concluded with a plea to Bud Selig to let him back in the game for which he has such a passion.

I grew up near Cincinnati during the Big Red Machine days.

I say this as a long time fan, I forgive you Pete but, I don't want you in the Hall of Fame.

Good luck with that Charlie hustle, but your not “color coded” and that might not have even saved you.

Wait a sec Pete, you didn just gamble on baseball. When caught you lied about it and drug the league through a months long legal battle and media circus, proclaiming your innocence the whole way. You only fessed up after you lost every step of the way and concluded that was the only chance left to try and someday con your way back in.

If I was a manager in Game 7 of the World Series, tie score in the bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, with the winning run in scoring position, and I could have any batter in baseball history at the plate, I would want Pete Rose. But Pete Rose should not be in the Hall of Fame.

wah wah wah!
you knew the penalty for what you did. you denied it when it happened, and have been trying to weasel out of the punishment ever since.
if you didn’t wanna do the time, you shouldn’t have done the crime

I would have no problem with him entering the HOF once his lifetime ban was finished.

Why not? McQuire, Sosa, Clemens ,and others are/will be.

They better start constructing a new wing just for such miscreants. Football HOF, too.

Your achievements are in the Hall of Fame, Charlie. You don't belong there.

Not that it's relevant to the conversation, but we know you bet against the Reds.

All depends on how many times we’re lied to. Pete just plain told too many.

Actually they probably aren’t. Last I heard their vote counts kept dropping.

“I grew up near Cincinnati during the Big Red Machine days.”

So did I and watched him play when I was a little kid. Even as a young boy I had no use for his hustle. I knew what a brown nos-er was even then, lol. Charlie Hustler is more appropriate.

I’d like to see him in the HOF, but not allowed to be involved in baseball. As much as I detest Bonds, I’d like to see him in the HOF, too. He earned it before he ‘buffed’ up. Clemens earned it too. Most of those other guys..Sosa McGuire and all relied on the drugs to get their HOF numbers, but not the other two, IMO

I am one who thinks the entire body of work on the field should be the criteria. Rose on the field is on a very short list of the greatest players ever, and he should have a place.

He burned out his bullpen on days that he had money on the Reds and not so much on days he didn’t.
