On the one hand - At least these people had the balls to actually go and interact with firearms in a safe controlled way. Now they have a little knowledge and hands-on experience, probably more than any most of their friends. So, good for them. Maybe they're a tiny bit less ignorant about firearms now.

On the other hand - Jeez. These are the kind of useless wusses who will happily vote to have everyone's guns taken away. I mean, if you don't want one, fine. But leave me alone!

I've used that approach successfully several time. My Ruger .22 target pistol has converted quite a few. Low recoil and very easy to shoot accurately, so they get some immediate gratification. They find out it's a lot of fun.

Today he owns a .40 XD, an 870 shotgun and is looking for a .30 cal type semi auto rifle.

Seems it is the cure and he owns a real nice safe to keep his arms from unauthorized hands.
