School was supposed to start last Thursday for the kids of Ferguson, Missouri.

But when rioting escalated Wednesday night, Ferguson-Florrisant School District officials made the decision to cancel classes for two days due to safety concerns. On Sunday night, when riots continued to ensue, officials made the decision to cancel classes for a third time.

The school district includes more than 11,000 students, from pre-school to high school. Under USDA’s community eligibility program, the district is able to provide free breakfast and lunch for all students. Over the summer, meal programs were set up to continue providing nourishment to students. But summer break has ended, and without school, those who rely on this meal plan must find another way to eat.

Well those schools didn’t do much for their parents who are rioting in the streets so it’s not such a big loss.

I would suggest that the kids are doing “OJT” or “internships” for their future occupations!

A couple of days away from the indoctrination goons can’t be a bad thing...

If they don’t go to school they can’t eat?

How’d they get through the summer break?

I realize that an elementary is just down the street from the action, but the children need to be in school for some normalcy.

This is completely unfair to the illegal immigrants who expect to start school and get fed after all their hard work sneaking in.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

How about their parents, who are on food stamps, do the responsible thing and feed their kids themselves?

FReepers, Let's go!
Everyone needs to donate!

All contributions are for the current quarter expenses.

FReepathon day 48.

Two percent a day keeps the 404 away.

You mean I’m supposed to read the article before commenting?

Dammit.

Actually,I saw that after I posted. But that infuriates me even more that we’re feeding them all year round and the article says its “free”

It’s not free if we’re the ones paying for it

Yep, it’s only free to those receiving the benefits,
not those doing the paying.

What difference does it make. From the looks of things, the local schools are just a free babysitting program for the residents too young to go to prison

This may explain the looting. When the free food does not arrive to your mouth. You’ve got to take your mouth to the free food.

The kids are getting a better start to follow in the footsteps of their civil rights loving parents (term used loosely) by participating in the riots. To repeat Pink Floyd:

We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.,

Even has the racist reference to "dark" sarcasm and the bricks they throw through windows...
