Presley Smith is a baseball player, but he's also, like, an actual player. During last night's Little League World Series game, Smith did what any enterprising adolescent boy might do: He used a national television broadcast to let all the ladies out there know he's down.
When the chyron flashed on the screen displaying Smith's hobby, it wasn't comic books or video games or volunteering at the soup kitchen. It was "talking to girls."
Unfortunately for Smith, though he hit the ball, he was out at first base.
I want to say one of the kids from Keystone LL (local team) a couple of years ago responded to this question with “eating bacon.” This after listing bacon as his favorite food.
Hey — we have a young boy who plays baseball and likes to talk to girls. I’m just happy to see that still exists in modern America.
Ah!
So he hasn’t struck out yet!
Then don’t watch it. IMHO, baseball is the best game for people who have the intelligence to understand how difficult it is to play. Sadly, with our instant gratification culture, there are many today who can’t understand a sport that does not high speed collisions every thirty seconds.
Such grand language should be reserved for that most ennui-inducing sport: soccer.
I’ve certainly enjoyed watching the little league playoffs. The kids are having fun.
Did you know that this: “Wyrd bið ful aræd” translates to this: “Who would fardels bear”?
There is nothing better than a good, well managed game between talented teams. There is nothing worse than a bad baseball game.
I have been a sports photographer for a couple dozen colleges. About 60 baseball games a season. There were some I looked forward to. But most of them were slow torture.
Of course, it’s “weak”; he’s just a kid. Cut him some slack.
Not to mention the distinct lack of absurd fruity gyrations and chest slapping displays after making mundane plays. No one moonwalks down to first after drawing a walk, because no one wants to get stuck in the ribs.
