They hired a new president who'd never lived in a more or less rural town like Newton. He refused to live there and commuted from Des Moines.
They ran a contest for their Hoover vacuum business in the UK, with the grand prize being a two week vacation in Paris. Someone caught the confused wording and a judge ordered Maytag to give everyone who bought a Hoover the two week vacation. Blimey !

After three mainboards and a trick, variable speed, multi-phase motor controller, I junked my super-dooper, high tech front loader and got an old, mechanical top loader off of craiglist. No more problems.
