It's really been a more or less normal summer for New York, hysteria notwithstanding, and summer isn't over for another three weeks, meteorologically speaking. Hawaii did not get hit with any hurricanes; one went north, the other disintegrated. Everything else is pretty much well following the forecast.

summer isn't over for another three weeks, meteorologically speaking.End of summer on the last day of August is cultural.
Meteorological last day of summer this year is September 21. So almost six weeks to go.

I blame the media for the Katrina fiasco - they cry wolf so often too many people decided to stay put.

Meteorological last day of summer this year is September 21. So almost six weeks to go. That astronomical, and those dates can change.
Meteorological seasons don't change so they can be compared from year to year and decade to decade. So meteorological winter is December 1 to the last day of February, spring is March 1 to May 31, summer is June 1 to August 31, and fall is September 1 to November 30, year in year out.

Thanks for the ping.
Looks like winter is going to be snowy and cold here again. The summer has been fantastic. I don't remember hitting 80 on the ridge for at least the past month.
Accuweather is still consistently off by 5+ degrees a day. A strange game they are playing. Today is the warmest day we have had this past 30 at 77º mid afternoon. Their forecast is for 85.

Let’s see if I’ve figured this out... how do you make ordinary weather sound exciting?
If you’re “mainstream media” you super-hype “global climate change” and blame every thunder storm on people in SUVs or pickups.
If you’re Joe Bastardi, you do it by poking fun at the alarmists.
That certainly makes his forecasts more interesting to me!
So, you see, global warming is good for **something**.

This has been a beautiful summer here in Maryland. No long-term heat waves. Just the kindest June and July in about 40 years.
The summer of 2013 was a stinker.

We’re supposed to have a “Super Moon” tonight. I know that’s not weather, but if the weather is good, we’ll be able to see it! :)
