Married Cops Busted in Shooting of Daughter's Beau
Newser ^ | 7 Aug 2014 | Elizabeth Armstrong Moore

In another interview with KJRH Tulsa, the couple's 18-year-old daughter, Lisa, says her parents kicked her out a week ago and dropped her off at a homeless shelter, where she met 19-year-old Jeremy Lake and the two began seeing each other. "He was my everything," she said. They spent the week at Jeremy's family's house, which is where her father tracked her down. "We were outside for five minutes and that's when my dad pulled up," she said. "There was no argument. I walked away and Jeremy tried to introduce himself and my dad shot him."

It doesn’t sound like this cop thought things through very well to say the least.

The only thing he he has to think through is that he has to remember to say to the first person on the scene, "I felt threatened." I am sure he knew that and felt entirely secure in shooting the boyfriend. Maybe he was worn out from overwork and just wanted a paid vacation.

The officer forgot to say, “I felt threatened.” How stupid.

Weird. That guy looks familiar. But, his wife?

He must’ve married a pet armadillo. Seriously?!

When did she climb the Fugly Tree and fall out of it, hitting every Fugly Branch on the way down.

Dude, if you wanted out, I think it would have been cheaper to just walk.

We’re men. We don’t need nothing but a blanket and thermos.

Jackass.

Well, you’ll get to stay in a beautiful gated community in McAlester. Lovely place in the summer....

Oh no, no, no....

It’s Tulsa and this dumb ass shot at his daughter three times as well, missing her.

It’s pretty clear what his intent was...

There is a certain quarry near Tusla that if you drop a gun and a car in it you are never going to find them.....

Still, you could go to any number of lakes or ponds(which are everywhere) and toss the murder weapon.

A terrapin might find it but, no one else will...

I do note that there is nothing in the story about the dogs being shot, so there is at least a ray of sunshine...

Sorry I should have been more articulate.
They were “charged” with 1st Degree Murder, but I was referring to whether the DA would change it to some other charge.
As an attorney I've seen cops arrested for one thing and the DA charge it as something else.
Also, they might add an aggravated assault as well, depending on what actually happened.
It's not clear whether shots were fired at someone else who wasn't hit.
Do you happen to know what that was about?
Surely he didn't shoot at his daughter?
This story is worth keeping an eye on. Could be interesting.

All that is necessary is that the officer say, “I felt threatened.”

I did not know that. Does that mean that if I want to shoot someone all I have to say is I felt threatened? < /sarcasm>

Okay the names of the charges in Oklahoma are just a little different than Texas.
Shooting with intent to kill in Oklahoma would be either attempted murder or aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Texas.
It sounds like the dad might get the murder charge as well as the attempt on the dead boyfriend’s little brother and his own daughter.
The fact that this guy is on pain leave from the force is ridiculous. I can’t even imagine the reason for that.

They need to fry both her parents. Too bad it won’t happen until 2033.

Even if you’re against inter-racial dating, which, ok, I’m not sure why that’s an issue, you don’t shoot somebody over it. The woman was an adult and made her choices. You don’t shoot people because you don’t like them.

... dropped her off at a homeless shelter, where she met 19-year-old Jeremy Lake and the two began seeing each other. "He was my everything," she said. They spent the week at Jeremy's family's house, which is where her father tracked her down.

So Jeremy really isn't homeless -- but he hangs out at homeless shelters cruising for newly dropped-off females -- to take home to his "family's" house -- which, just coincidentally, was well enough known to police that the parents who are cops were able to track them down, and shoot the little pimp dead right there.

My guess is that Jeremy is an aspiring young, urban businessman of the street variety, and that he grabbed the girl PDQ from the shelter, and that he was either pimping her out from the "family's" home, or was fixin' to get ready to put her on a corner. She just needed some breakin-in TLC, thus "he was my everything," until the game really gets going -- then it's down, down, down, the toilet.

Oh, good grief. Before I had even seen the pictures, it was obvious that this was NOT simply a case of "inter-racial dating".

I came to the same conclusion for the same reasons; maybe I'm wrong, but they didn't shoot him out of the blue.

My guess is that the union rules dictate the JBT gets paid leave until he is formally charged, possibly until he is convicted (another reason to love government unions). What I find more offensive is that the police chief refuses to condemn his employees and instead talks about tragedies for both families. It’s not a tragedy it’s an outrage caused by two cops and the Cheif’s words tell me he is hoping they won’t get in trouble for murdering a non-cop.
