I've been busy busy making this and that. And I've opened an Etsy store (actually two) selling simple children's clothes and washable dog bed covers. The dog bed covers have been giving me grief because i want to personalize them, but the applique is just not going well for me. So I'm a little discouraged about that, but I will not be defeated!
I just finished this skirt yesterday. It's a reversible circle skirt. One new thing I discovered in making it is using a different color bobbin and main thread to match the two different sides.

What's a fun "trick" you've learned on one of your projects?

I find it easier to cross stitch words than embroider them. And there are beautiful font patterns available.

I have a sewing machine that really need to play with...I can’t use it to its full advantage...thanks for inspiration. Maybe in a week or two I can post a “newbie” project!

Those skirts are so adorable! Can't think of a trick today -- except the use of wrist pincushions when doing handwork requiring pins. Just don't buy a cheap one like I did -- get one that's comfortable on your arm.

I just ran across a sewing tip that I have used before, and forgot about. It brought to mind your comment about difficulty of cutting out patterns. Freezer paper ironed on to fabric with shiny side down, will stick to the fabric but can be removed without any residue or damage to the fabric. I have done this before, and it truly works!
