A Minnesota jury has awarded former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura $1.8 million Tuesday in his lawsuit against the estate of American Sniper author Chris Kyle.

On the sixth day of deliberations, the federal jury decided that the 2012 best-selling book defamed Ventura in its description of a bar fight in California in 2006.

Kyle wrote that he decked a man whom he later identified as Ventura after the man allegedly said the Navy SEALs 'deserve to lose a few.'

Jesse Ventura is scum. I wonder if he's an operative of our hi-jacked government, and if he's the mastermind of Kyle's assassination. Go ahead and sue me, Ventura, you piece of human filth.

While I’m not a fan of jury nullification, this makes me a fan of jury annihilation.

The trial should not have taken place in Minnesota.

Does he think this shameful act of robbing a widow and her children enhances his sorry reputation? What was that stupid jury thinking?

I’m surprised, given the media accounts I read summarizing key testimony. Things did not seem to be going well for Janos (”Ventura”). Juries can be very unpredictable!

Here is hoping for a remittitur.

Even if not, though, Ventura destroyed what little was left of his rep by bringing the suit — AND then choosing to continue it after the book’s author died.

“Ain’t got time to bleed”? I ain’t got time to care about “Ventura” ever again. I thank him for his service, but that’s it.

It's one thing to go after a Navy Seal, but it takes a low-class slime-ball putz to go after that Seal's widow and children.

Kyle's attorney should be disbarred for allowing an 8-2 verdict to stand!

One has to have character to be defamed.

Jesse, you turd, have none!

What a jerk.

After Kyle died, Ventura named his widow defendant.

Ventura attorney David Bradley Olsen said he believes Kyle's estate has earned more than $6 million from the book, and suggested that $5 million to $15 million would be reasonable compensation for what he said was irreparable harm to Ventura reputation.

I think Glenn Beck and others got legal help for her so that her estate is somewhat protected.

There will be an appeal. This isn’t over by a long shot.

Lawyers pick the dumbest, most un-informed jurors during the jury selection process. It is very easy to get out of long jury duty trials by saying “punishment of criminals is too lenient in this country”. No defense lawyer will select you, and you will be excused from any long trial.

irreparable harm to Ventura reputation.

Nothing compared to the harm this boneheaed lawsuit does to his reputation.

The only way Ventura would have any chance of being honorable would be to give all the money back to the widow and pay for the lawsuit expenses on her side.

Of course Ventura wouldn’t have put the lawsuit on her if he was honorable in the first place.

From Wikipedia on "Jesse Ventura:"
There had been reports that officials from the Libertarian Party have tried to persuade Ventura to run for the presidency on a Libertarian ticket although the party chairman Mark Hinkle said, "Jesse is more interested in 2016 than he is in 2012. But I think he's serious. If Ron Paul ran as a Libertarian, I think he definitely would be interested in running as a vice presidential candidate. He's thinking, ‘If I run as the vice presidential candidate under Ron Paul in 2012, I could run as a presidential candidate in 2016."...Ventura gave his support to Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson on June 12, 2012, whom Ventura argued was the choice for voters who “really want to rebel.”
