The 3-year-old boy was outside with his mother, her boyfriend and another man about 10 p.m. Friday night in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
The child isn’t old enough to know what a Satan’s Disciple or Two-Sixer is, let alone comprehend all the things that can mean in a neighborhood like this one. But in Chicago, gang conflicts have a way of consuming the neighborhoods where they occur and noncombatants often become an unwilling and unknowing participant.

I wouldn’t guess the collective IQ in that photo to be over 14.
I would guess that at least three of the four are dead or in prison.
Yeah, I know that sounds like profiling. It’s also being honest.
The youth gangs are a spreading cancer in our cities. It’s not just big cities either. Many smaller cities have gang problems too.
We should declare war on the gangs. How to do that without losing civil liberties, I do not know. But I do know that the youth gangs are at war with us. They are feral, uncivilized savages. They settle all slights, real and imagined, with violence. They are a threat to the survival of civilization itself, in my opinion.
Liberals don’t often get concerned about the gangs. Perhaps because liberals are afraid of perceptions of racism if they say anything. The liberals want us all to fight this nebulous threat of global warming, when there are major threats to our ongoing daily existence which they ignore.
We are importing gang members thru our immigration policies.
Sure the boy ought to have been in bed maybe, but maybe this was some occasion that got special treatment. For God’s sake, have some humanity, who in the hell cares what time he was supposed to go to bed!!!!
The tighter the government controls guns, the worse the problem. Just as guns are a divisive issue in the progressive ranks, because feminists know that guns are the great equalizer, urban metro sexual men are figuring it out as well. Poindexter with a Glock 17 and a little training is not something these gang folk want to see.
Elitists, liberal and conservatives, have built highways and other construction projects that are like moats keeping the chaos confined and away from where they live and work.
There are a few real threats to that status quo. One is central american hordes being moved into communities, many of which have seen the effects of Somali and other refugees over the past few years. Move those "children" into the schools, and the gang violance and drug and sex trafficking will follow.
Another threat is idle youth in their mid and upper 20s who have got to be put to work. I could see the thug culture spreading to that population if they aren't.

I am sure that his mother was what I would consider slack and stupid, but he didn’t die because his mom let him stay out too late, but because of those damn gang bangers, including his mom of course. They should be shot on sight. THEY should, not the boy.
Until fathers decide to stay in the lives of their children and actively raise them, the situation will remain the same or get worse.
I'm in full agreement with you there.
What is the solution? Get the culprits off the streets and punish them severely when caught. Profiling will have to be involved. And of course, that will never happen, and the killings will go on.
