England have dropped ten places to 20th in the latest FIFA world rankings, meaning they are now officially worse than Bosnia-Herzegovina according to the complex system.

The Eastern European nation, who participated in their first World Cup in Brazil, also exited in the group stage but, unlike England, managed to win a game. They have now moved up two places to 19th, leapfrogging Wayne Rooney and co.

Other nations to feature above the Three Lions now include surprise quarter-finalists Costa Rica plus Mexico, Greece and the USA – who all made the last 16 at the World Cup.

England hasn't fielded a decent World Cup team since what, the 1930's?

I still enjoy following Premier League though. Even if deep down you know it's not on a par with the Continentals.

Should’nt it be “England IS now officially worse.
vs. “England ARE now officially worse? Unless the word England is now being used as a collective pronoun.
I know, I know, the point of this article was soccer, they don’t give a happy hoot about grammar.

Look at the bright side, one team has to be the worst.

I would trade a Bundesliege network for a Premier League network in a heartbeat. But the advantage (obviously) of the latter is that the announcers speak English.

“England hasn’t fielded a decent World Cup team since what, the 1930’s?”

England won it in 1966; one of only eight teams to have won.

Hopefully US youth soccer will pay attention to England's demise because right now that's where most of our coaches are imported from.
