I love "Bernie."

It happened up the road from me and I remember when the real deal was in the news.

I remember going to River Oaks in Houston one night many years ago to watch Farah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal in a scene.

Don't remember the movie. Really don't remember if whe was in it or just there with him.

6. The Comancheros Filmed in Utah.

There is a scene missing in the new releases of this. I saw it back in the 1960s.
When the steam ship docks in Galveston and the girl gets off, as she is walking up the gangplank, John Wayne is walking down. He sees her and tips his hat. She sees he is a Texas Ranger.

She mentions this to Michael Ansara when she and Wayne meet again at the Comanchero campground.

Must also add TWO RODE TOGETHER. Filmed in Texas while THE SEARCHERS was filmed in Utah, and other places.

it was an epic circa 1950s. Sorry not enough realism for you. Told a good story of that family and the oil boom. I liked Dean in his role.

It was a good Texas movie.

I have seen some Texas Ranger origin stories on TV. Would like to see a big screen or quality TV mini-series taking it from the beginning.

And we must not forget THE CHASE with Marlon Brando, Angie Dickinson and a very young Robert Redford, along with the pre-treasonous Jane Fonda.

State Fair was filmed in Dallas at our State Fair. I was an extra and can be seen in the scene in the Hog Barn (but then I know where to look) Not bad for a 50s era musical with Pat Boone, Bobby Darin and Ann Margaret.

I love Viva Max! I haven’t been able to find it to order, stream or record the last few years. Probably too un-PC. :-(

Dittoes on Viva Max. I re-read the novel earlier this year.

They should do a re-make. In 1968 it was unthinkable that Mexicans could retake the Alamo.

Now?

They could retake the Alamo, but why? They are controlling all of South Texas already, with more and more immigrants incoming daily.

Since The Last Picture Show was filmed in Archer and Wichita Counties, I'm a little sentimental about it. Boomtown with Spencer Tracy and Clark Gable comes in second, another movie about a Wichita County town.
