Major League Baseball has hired openly gay former ballplayer Billy Bean as their new Ambassador For Inclusion. Bean's job will be to assure all MLB stakeholders of an inclusive and equitable workplace and provide awareness and educational resources that help mandate the league's workplace code of conduct.
"It's ironic that I am returning to baseball to help erase the same reason I left," Bean told Outsports in an exclusive interview. Bean left baseball in 1995 shortly after his then-partner passed away. Bean skipped his partner's funeral to play in a game for the Padres, lest someone discover he was gay.

I fervently hope that the celebration of sodomy will see the end of professional sports as we know it.
If I made half the noise they did about my heterosexuality, Mrs. Vigilanteman would have me sleeping on the couch!
Let’s just call him what he is - their resident gaystapo enforcer
Will he now be known as the “other” Billy Beane?
Bye, bye, professional perverted sports leagues.
Now how long will it be before colleges accepting federal funding must have their sports teams met a queer quota?
Did the players, coaches, and owners have a vote on this? If so, I would like to see the results. I have already written off Pro Basketball and Football. I guess baseball will be next.
Will MLB hire a doctor familiar with HIV to visit all the teams too? How about someone to promote polygamy, bestiality and incest?
Maybe MLB should hire someone to help erase the heterophobia that the homosexual lobby has?
It should say he's a switch-hitter!
Over eight seasons he appeared in 272 games, batting .226 with five dingers and 53 RBIs. I don't think being gay had anyhthing to do with the end of his career.* **
*: I'm not demeaning his career, it's a tremendous accomplishment to reach the majors period. But i don't think his sexual preference (some might say perversion) caused his release from pro ball.
**: A first I thought this was Billy Beane, the A's GM.
When will Major League baseball have the first annual NAMBLA day?
It seems that people are starting to lose interest in professional sports. Too much political correctness, too many showboating antics, ridiculous player salaries, high priced tickets, performance enhancing drugs, and last but not least the excessive use of advertising. At some point it all just becomes a turn off.
The ambassador will be deepthroating bats and sitting on balls. Can become Obama’s body man after that.
You’d think the whole pitcher-catcher analogy would be enough.
I totally agree with you, there’s an excess of excess at every corner. I used to be an avid sports fan, knowing who all the players were, their pertinent statistics, the standings of all the teams. Now it’s just a diversion with a couple of beers at happy hour time, I’m not emotionally invested in any team, not worth my time or effort. But I am forced to support the sports empire through my tax $ and cable bills.
Pro sports is becoming a vulgar display of egos. Just saying.
And when will their gay stats end up on their baseball cards?
