Conservatives we have to get our Act Together!

Posted on 07/15/2014 6:51:41 AM PDT by 2nd Amendment

Fellow conservatives, now is the time for us to decide on a 2016 Presidential candidate. With Hillary the ostensible and heavily flawed democratic nominee, we must decide early and decisively on a conservative contender. We cannot have years of dumb debates that let the democrats chew us up and continue their regime of destruction. Here are some of my handicaps for the 2016 election. 1.Christie - definitely a RINO, back stabbing, recent convert to pro-life positions. -I cannot vote for this man! 2. Jeb Bush - perhaps the most competent of the Bushes, but now way. Way too many Bushes with their baggage. Would vote for him with gag response. 3. Rick Perry- Somewhat more attractive, but inarticulate and too close to Bushes - perhaps weak on immigration. Would vote reluctantly. 4. Sarah - Definitely an ideologically sound candidate. Bit shrill and been kneecapped by liberals - probably unelectable. Would vote avidly for her. 5. Scott Walker. Kinda of an unknown for me. Right on the issues, conscientious fighter . . but little nationwide presence. No problem voting for him. 6. Ted Cruz. Finally a candidate that is moral, rock steady on all the major issues. Been savagely attacked by both Dems and Repubs. Dismissed by Bill O'Reilly and Laura Ingram. A little light on the Resume, but my favorite candidate. Reaganesque in all of his actions. Definitely the candidate to turn America around, but can he get 270 electoral votes and withstand the withering attacks by his own party and the evil ones? If anyone out there in FreeRepublic land can give me additional insight on this topic please feel free to do so. Only the future of our Republic and the SCOTUS hangs in the balance!

Unfortunately Rand Paul has chosen to go insane and is even driving libertarians away at this point. Until a few months ago I saw him as a great choice for VP but pandering to the lowest common denominator has ended him in my book.

The merry-go-round dumping of candidates before the first primary back in 2012 because candidate X said something that wasn’t perfect like 10 years ago.

Then we had the trainereck of Rick Santorum being championed almost because he went to church every Sunday and his kids were just so adorable. Didn’t matter that he had the presence of a wet piece of cardboard. We blew a chance to bump Romney after South Carolina, but people just had to push that guy, and accomplished nothing but splitting the vote.

She's not kneecapped by liberals, she gets death threats from them. She's kneecapped by Rove type RINO's.

Romney did not run a good campaign in 2012. I defy anyone to tell me what his message was. He was the typical moderate candidate that has nothing to say but simply wants to be president. He is another elitist prick that the GOPe drools over, but only they will truly support. Most Americans won't vote for an out-of-touch elitist like Romney or the Bush gang. I voted for Romney once, but won't a second time. He had his shot, he blew it, so it is time for someone new.

What statements 10 and 14 years ago?

How are we to know what a politician’s positions are if we don’t look at his politics?

NOT ONE of our trusted constitutional conservatives has announced unequivocal support for McDaniel or condemned those 'pubs who donated to Cochran's dirty campaign. Not one (DC or governors) has a solution NOW for stopping hordes of central americans from swarming the US. Is it a lack of guts or a lack of problem solving ability in a fast moving emergency? Whichever it is, no one has been presidential.

I'm totally opposed to getting behind anyone until we give a real leader time to emerge. At this point, I'd say give Jeff Sessions a look. He's the one who has been unafraid to express his believes.

But don't ask me to choose now and be traitored again by someone who's too sure of us. It happens every time.

I don't want the liberal republican leadership to have a Senate majority.

They wouldn't impeach Holder even if they did. They are liberal.

I wouldn't mind considering Trump/Cruz, but it would be too creative for a lot of people. It would be interesting and Trump knows how to draw attention to himself. This could appeal to everyone except the blah-blah-blah-know it all most rabid dems.

FWIW, when GWB was pre-ordained by the ptb as a real conservative (with no voting record, oops) Steve Forbes and Dan Quayle looked like contenders. I suspect the US would be in a totally different, better place if we had eight years of Forbes/Quayle (or Quayle/Forbes) instead of GWB. Why? They both know and have lived their areas of specialty.

Yeh, You’re right. He certainly didn’t excite. Outdebated Odumbo, but it didn’t matter with the low info voter and Christie’s caressing of Zero hours before the election.
I’m just saying I don’t want to listen to 2 years of debates where conservatives pummel eachother and open the door for the decimation of America by the dims. Right now, I’ll take Cruz, Walker, Palin and support them without batting an eye. I want a MORAL Conservative that feels God, liberty, and freedom in his veins and doesn’t have to check with SEIU, or latest polling organization for his values!

" I will vote for ANYONE with a “R” behind the name!!!!"

That kind of mindset saddled us with Dole, McCain, Romney, Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, and on and on.

" I will never vote for a “D” again!"

If you vote for a liberal Republican, you might as well.

I actually think in 2012 we had some who were dumping candidates without ever truly choosing their own. Every time the momentum would shift, we’d hear the bashing, name-calling, horrendous outcry of these critics, never heard them say anything good about any candidate.

Negative toxic posts that totally destroy whatever morale we had left.

Taking the Senate by a slim majority only means Reid will not be Majority Leader, which in itself would be a worthwhile accomplishment, Impeachment is a pipe dream as long as McConnell, McCain, and Graham and their ilk remain in office.

We seriously don’t need another 2012 where we dump candidates because of one thing they said 14 years ago that wasn’t 1000000% conservative or where we have people pushing for candidates with no charisma, but because they can recite a Bible verse verbatim or because their kids have really nice teeth, that somehow makes them more viable.

So you're for romney? He is the reason we have obama. He wouldn't fight for what is right because he doesn't recognize evil. People like him are the reason we have same sex marriage, abortion, sex ed for kindergardeners. Mitt Romney supported gay Scout leaders 20 years ago, and restated that support after winning the 2012 nomination. Romney took action against the Boy Scouts in the 2002 Winter Olympics, because of their no-gays stance. He won't win. Never. He won't get the base. He has no courage or personality. He's still a flip flopper, pro abortion and same sex marriage at heart. He's a liar, cheater, pro Cochran, can't be trusted in any way. I'll never vote for him even against Hillary. I'll stay home. He's not lessor of two evils, he's equally evil.

I think obama was punishment for compromising our values and trusting people who knew from experience were evil. No way we vote for any rino like romney, bush....and Yes to cruz. Sorry it upsets you he can quote bible versus. At least he doesn't believe in becoming a god and having his own planet and follows prophets who change their rules to fit political candidate. Funny how their god speaks to them just in time to run for office, and always changes.

If your not for romney sorry, but anyone who starts talking about electing a rino candidate will be attacked by me and others. We have compromised too much. If we stand firm behind someone who is a true conservative we will win.

I will vote for ANYONE with a “R” behind the name!!!! I will never vote for a “D” again! I will stay home no more—Look what it got us? We must rally behind someone and support him! I don’t care if they are a Mormon, Woman, Black, White or Brown—as long as they support 50% of the Republican ideals.

Repeated, simply so we can remember to do the exact opposite of what you suggest. Republican voters, sadly, own the mess that we created. There is always going to be a radical left. What Republican voters did, however, was grant them unlimited power, by allowing Republican allies of the left to rise to the top of the party.

I will vote Democrat. Or stay home. I will oppose, with every fiber of my being, the treasonous vermin who now represent the great states of Texas, Mississippi, Kentucky, South Carolina, Arizona, and others. I will oppose the treacherous national party, and their lapdogs in the state parties. If it means third party, so be it. If it means voting democrat, so be it. But I will never, as long as I live, lend anything but opposition to the establishment GOP.

Staying home didn't get us where we are. Holding our noses and voting, did.

Rand Paul has the best shot at reaching outside the GOP base vote (which is just not enough to win by itself).

The only Republican in the modern era to really attract independents, and blue collar democrats, was the "unelectable" Reagan. None of the "electable" candidates did.

Rand Paul, given his recent actions, is not capable of doing so. It would take an articulate conservative, with well-thought out positions, to do so. The only national candidate that meets that criterion is Ted Cruz. Unfortunately, the GOPe will work with their Democrat brethren to defeat him, or any candidate like him. And, ironically enough, the big lie which they would use to destroy him is his lack of "electability", even though he the only candidate with that electability.
