LYCOMING COUNTY— Matthew Manning, 38, of Hughesville is accused of having and disseminating child porn. He was arrested Thursday.
Manning is a science teacher at Muncy Junior/Senior High School in Lycoming County.
“Very uncomfortable, considering I just had him, like a month ago in school and he was teaching these kids. I think he had a 7th grade class and anyone under 17, just to hear it is weird,” said Muncy High School senior Maurice Brown.
Parents with students in the district were concerned by the news, too.
“You know you see people every day and you just never know that something like that is going on behind closed doors, you know what I mean.” You can meet them and have no idea, so that’s what’s really scary,” said Tara Bolick of Muncy.

Another poorly conceived and written article with no mention of the nature of the evidence.
Kind of impossible for thinking people to discern whether this is a Nifong style lynch mob or a legitimate expose on a sexual predator and it is appropriate to wait for the evidence.
With a little Internet search, this appears to stem from peer to peer file sharing. I would assert that he is probably guilty, but that it is possible that there was child porn (actually, there is of this date no confirmation that anyone in the photos was underage, it is merely being investigated) in a large torrent batch file.
A lot of “if”s.
Hopefully we will get a more complete story as this works it’s way through the courts.

If so, he should be canned for sure, from both places.

It is hard to report on something you are never going to be allowed to see for yourself.
A certain sense of what the nature of the evidence might be can be gleaned from public documents such as the search warrants (scouting guy was only one of three people involved in this case so) there were three warrants. Searching this stuff out used to be called investigative reporting and once upon a time it was common.
Why is it that I can find out more in fifteen minutes on the internet than someone paid to write professionally uncovers?
The legacy press isn’t flagging only because of political bias. It’s also lazy and incompetent.
