Yuan Meixia, a 37-year-old pharmacy employee in Fujian province, uses her countryside home next to the woods as a breeding ground for the roaches, which she then sells to a pharmaceutical company that uses it in certain medicines.
The insects will eventually be dried and sold to a factory in faraway Anhui province, but during their short lives with Yuan, she treats them “like her children”.

She had a thing for pet mice and they would get loose and go into the walls and eat the roaches.
Looks like she’s eating one of her children. Reminds me of the song, “I’m Gonna’ Go Eat Worms”...of which one line sez, “...first you bite their heads off; then you slurp their guts out....” And....oh yeah, the ones of her kids the lady doesn’t eat, she sells!
I wonder if roaches would make good bait...

When I was in NY city some time ago I checked into the YMCA. When I went up to my room there were at least 100,000 cockroaches waiting for me all over the bed, floors and walls. Needless to say, I didn’t want the room.
Next she will petition to register them as DEMS
Sounds like a business to me ... but I couldn’t do it, can’t stand roaches. Other insects, arachnids, reptiles, no problem, but not roaches.
Oh God, don’t even get me started on those damn things. I unfortunately grew up in New york city and when the 90s came around all the liberals in the country treated NYC as the Mecca of liberalism and moved in, driving rents through the roof and as a result the landlords would try to evict the LTTs - long term tenants to make room for these trust fund leftist pukes by cutting heat and willfully infesting apartments. I would be sitting at my desk and cockroaches would be crawling all over my legs and back. Or sleeping and being woken up by them on my face.
