full title...‘We came out of the White House dead broke and in debt’: Hillary Clinton defends her $200,000 speaking fees to pay for their houses and Chelsea’s education

Former First Lady Hillary Clinton isn't ashamed of the massive amount of money she and husband Bill Clinton have earned over the last decade through high-paying speaking gigs.

Hitting the speaking circuit was a necessity in order to maintain their lifestyle after Bill's term as the 42nd President of the United States ended, Clinton told ABC's Diane Sawyer in a sit-down interview ahead of the release of her book Hard Choices.

Anybody find what Danny Williams is doing these days?

It's not every kid born of a Little Rock prostitute gets to go to European boarding schools. What's he doing and where is he doing it?

What Hillary is not telling us is that, on Jan. 20, 2001, she was a senator earning about $145,000 a year, and Bill started getting his presidential pension of approx. $100,000 a year.

Yes, they had legal bills, due to Bill’s bad behavior with women. But they were hardly dead broke and destined to live in the streets.

Heck, in 1999, they bought a mansion in New York, so Hillary could claim that as her residence so she could run for Senator from New York. If that’s her definition of poverty, I would like some of that poverty!

For royalty a million a year for life in cash and perks is insufficient to maintain an appropriate lifestyle.

What happened to all that money she made on the cattle futures?

They are always extolling the virtues of public service, yet they make millions and no one questions this.

What about the real public servants who are being denied care at our VA hospitals?

Lest weforget

“Former President Clinton has agreed to write his memoirs for Alfred A. Knopf, the publisher announced Monday, in perhaps the biggest deal ever for a nonfiction work.

Terms were not immediately disclosed, but the New York Times reported on its Web site that the 42nd president agreed to an advance of more than $10 million. The book is expected to be out in 2003.”

This news came out in June of 2001, which means the Clinton’s already had their $12 million in hand (because that is what the advance turned out to be).

Clintons Return White House Furniture
W A S H I N G T O N, Feb. 8, 2002
Former President Clinton and his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, have sent $28,000 worth of household goods back to Washington after questions arose over whether the items were intended as personal gifts or donations to the White House.

“We have been informed that it is being shipped back, and the National Park Service is ready to receive it, take possession of it and take custody of it,” Jim McDaniel, the National Park Service’s liaison to the White House, said Wednesday.

“The property is being returned to government custody until such time that the issues can be resolved. It may well turn out that that property is rightly the personal property of the Clintons.”

Giving Back

After they were criticized for taking $190,000 worth of china, flatware, rugs, televisions, sofas and other gifts with them when they left, the Clintons announced last week that they would pay for $86,000 worth of gifts, or nearly half the amount.

Their latest decision to send back $28,000 in gifts brings to $114,000 the value of items the Clintons have either decided to pay for or return.

(snip)

the massive amount of money she and husband Bill Clinton have earned over the last decade

They haven't earned a damned thing -- they've been given payoffs for past corrupt activities and bribes for future favors and services to be provided.

Her definition of broke is all their money is in their trust fund, and not in their hands.
See, it's all about the definition of "is".
