Ignore the call and the message. Don’t ever listen to or respond to robo-calls or messages left on the phone allegedly from government agencies. They use mail for official notification.

It is clearly a scam of some sort. The scammers are looking for someone to bite on their “bait” and give them information they need to execute their scam. Learn to dismiss these things immediately and move on.

If you get a call from this number, it is a scam. Do not call it back. I received a call on May 20, 2014 that said: “This message is intended for you. You or your retained attorney must respond. This is Officer Hada Grey of the Internal Revenue Service. My number is 202-241-2158. I repeat, 202-241-2158. Return this call before we take any legal action against you.” The day before, on May 19, I received the identical phone call from 202-241-1366, and by Googling that phone number I discovered that it is a scam that several other people have received. The IRS will not contact tax offenders by telephone, they will send a letter by certified mail. If you receive a phone call from this number, file a complaint at www.ftc.gov

You’re on their watch list — something to be proud of.

"This message is intended for you."

That's kind of a tip-off that it's a scam, if they don't even know your name.

In fact whenever I get ANY call where the person has no idea how my name is pronounced, I immediately think scam/ telemarketer.

O/T, but I can't figure just WHAT some "telemarketers" are doing, when I google the number, call them back from another phone, and there's nobody who answers.

What's the deal?

And often these phone calls come from BFE Wyoming or Nebraska.

Definitely sounds like a scam. If you were under investigation an agent would be at your door, chains would be around your business, flash bang grenades would be deployed at your children, your dog would be shot, and you’d be in jail.

I’d suggest calling them back and doing what that comedian did to the telemarketer who called him.

“Who are you, and how did you get this num... No, sergeant Jeffords, don’t step over the body, and watch out for the victim’s blood.”

Wait a minute. 867-5309 is Jenny’s number. Does she collect taxes?
