yes, he always is game to try new things. i tried some yesterday and was not that impressed. but i have a pretty bad cold so things are not tasting quite right to me.i will try it again after i am over this. heard on the radio on the way in that there is a recall on Target and Trader Joe’s hummus, with some pretty horrible effects that can even cause death. i got the Sabra brand at Safeway, which i also heard on the radio is more authentic than some others. Was just luck on my part to having picked that one. i bought roasted pepper and also roasted garlic.
There is a new fish market near us. xsfiance and xsteen had gotten salmon there and said it was really good, better than the groc store, so i stopped yesterday and bought some and it was excellent. definitely fresh and not previously frozen. i googled to see if it was good to eat left over and from what i read, it is, so i brought some for lunch today.

Kind of like Rush with his “for those of you in Rio Linda.”

Surely you’ve seen cold salmon in a salad or appetizer before.

yes, i have, but i have also always thought that it was not safe to eat left over fish. I never really thought about it, but i guess i figured that the fish was prepared same day and just chilled for the salad. Sometimes the salmon on my salad has been freshly cooked and hot.

Sounds like an old wives’ tale. I’m sure you can eat fish that is a day or two old.

On occasion. Sometimes even not breaded and fried.

Yes, the lack of purity of just about everyone is a reason to stay home this November. So think way too many here.

My wife is of Syrian/Lebanese extraction. She can whip up a batch of perfect hummus faster than I could boil water. Here is the recipe she uses:

(FYI—Tahini is just sesame paste, readily available in most cities)

Hummus bi Tahini
Prep. Time 30 minutes. Cooking Time 20-30 minutes. Serves 4.
Ingredients:
1 15oz can Chick Peas
2-3 Tbs. Olive Oil
2 Tbs. Tahini or more to taste
1/4c Lemon Juice (or the juice of 2 lemons) or more to taste
½-1 tsp. Salt
½-1 tsp. Garlic Powder

Directions:
Simmer Chick Peas for 20-30 minutes, until skins start to slip off.
Let cool a little. In a processor, combine Chick Peas, Tahini, most
of the Lemon Juice, 1½-2 Tbs. Olive Oil, Salt, and Garlic Powder.
Process until smooth, or desired consistency.
Check for Lemon, Garlic and Salt, adding more if needed.
To Serve:
Put in Hummus dish, drizzle with remaining Olive Oil,
decorate with a sprig of parsley.
Notes:
Can be made ahead of time (2 days). Can be frozen. Serve with
Syrian bread (pita) and/or vegetables. The recipe can be doubled;
check seasonings for taste.

We buy our hummus at Sams - I like the roasted pine nut type but like it all - it also makes a great spread to use in a tortilla wrap!

Truthy, I have also made homemade hummus - I have a recipe for jalapeno flavored!

speaking of jalapenos, Wegmans have premade sliders [and sell the clever little slider buns as well] and i got the ones with cheese and jalapenos in it and they were really good. I am not a big fan of burgers, or ground meat in general, but they use “irradiated” beef in their burgers and maybe bc they are small i can eat them, but the irradiation, whatever it is, makes them taste much better than the norm.

my paralegal was in here the other day railing on the republicans who are unappeasable. she said this is our chance to get back in the Senate and if they screw it up, we are totally dead.
