Initiating violence is a no-go.
Retaliating against that initiation with your own violence is MANDATORY.

The threat of violence is coming from the government, not the patriots who showed up to prevent it.
Or, another way of stating it -
we’ll give up the option of violence when the gov’t does first.

There was no violence BECAUSE patriots showed up to defend Bundy.

Government loves being the bully.
Of course, the slaves were freed after five years of civil nonviolence from 1860 - 1865.
However, I see no reason that if the government is bound and determined to instigate violence that we must be dumb before them and counted as sheep for the slaughter. This strategy accomplishes nothing and given time could mean the end of the liberty that so many great America's have died for. Nonviolence is a noble strategy and it works well When the time comes are we to sacrifice not just land and livelihood, but our children and grand-children in the name of non-violence.
Look at the cemeteries and the memorials for the men who died defending this nation. They have passed down a great heritage of Freedom that is unlike anything any other people on earth have ever had.
That heritage is now our responsibly and history is upon us. I see no reason to limit the resources that should be used in its defense. Any government acting outside the constitutional authority against the people it is supposed to serve has no more authority to violate our rights than a band of desperados or a foreign army.
I ask you, did the men who lay in Arlington, VA die so we could willingly surrender the freedom they fought for? Did the boys of pointe du hoc die so we could decide not to pass on a free America to our children when many sacrificed everything to pass that heritage on to children they never met? Did the men in Valley Forge suffer so we could decide that what they fought for is simply too uncomfortable an undertaking?
As Patrick Henry said:"It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!"
Since Glenn Beck will never read this I say we pitch in and buy him a copy of Sergeant York.
That’s just Beck channeling Elmer Gantry again.
Beck is occasionally right, but only because it will serve his interests. He wants to sell books, subscriptions, videos, etc. and must keep his constituency happy. No one really wants violence, but violence made America an independent country, freed the slaves and stopped the Germans twice. If he’s a pacifist, he should say so. Then, we can write him off altogether.

All what you say is true, but I believe he is right this time. If we choose to fight with Bundy, we had better be prepared to go the whole way. I an sure there are not many who are more than ready.

Because both sides made sure the other would get an unacceptable amount of it if they did go there.
I believe it should be used for defense; it should never be first or desired choice; for those that live by the sword will die by the sword.
