Putin steals Donetsk Foursquare mayorship, U.S. lodges official protests

DONETSK, Ukraine (TG) – In the latest in a series of tension-heightening developments in eastern Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin has seized the Foursquare mayorship of Donetsk, where armed Russian proxies had already occupied a number of administration buildings.

The coup, which occurred with Putin’s check in at 1 a.m. local time, appears to have taken Ukraine and its Western semi-allies by surprise, although Donetsk’s real-life mayor, Alexander Lukyanchenko, had been under strict White House orders to check in manually on Foursquare every day at 12 a.m. until the NSA could crack a stubborn Foursquare code that was preventing its elite hacker team from developing an automated script.
