It is a pressing issue for the ruling class; it is an effort to consolidate their power.
Ha...the concern is that the Sun’s magnetic field is in decline...so less sunspots are created......stand by for another ice age.
It is a very pressing issue for the country class because it threatens our liberty and freedom; because it is the worst form of cronyism because all the funding going to the heavily biased researchers who get the “right” answers; because it has already made our energy supply less reliable and vastly more expensive; and because it has thoroughly corrupted governments at every level from town hall to Congress. Even our little town of 25,000 is taking ultra-stupid PC and expensive steps to look like we are “doing something.”
It is NOT a pressing issue because the global temperature (maybe) is changing the wee slightest bit.

The recent severe winters, the unusually-low sunspot count from solar cycle 24 and the forecast of an even weaker cycle 25 are highly worrisome events, pointing towards a significant cold period over the next couple of decades at least (based on historical data). This holds dire implications for food production worldwide.
But don’t expect any “climate change” pollster to ask any questions that might narrow down “pressing” to cover “pressing in what way?”.
You are exactly correct: it’s all about a bunch of creepy greedheads cashing in their government checks and keeping the gravy train on track.
It is sheer idiocy to think giving up all modern convenience will keep glaciers from melting, oceans from rising, climate from changing. That is what climate does.
Take a course in geology--it all happened before--glaciers melting, oceans rising etc--aeons before modern industrialization.
al Gore got filthy rich off touting GW, and others want to follow suit.
