Video: Jimmy Fallon pokes fun at Obama with … Sarah Palin?

Maybe Jimmy Fallon really does want to follow Jay Leno’s tradition of full-political-spectrum comedy. Earlier this week, Fallon ripped Barack Obama for his victory lap on ObamaCare, and last night he invited Sarah Palin to join him in this four-minute mockfest of Obama’s foreign-policy acumen. Palin is a good sport here, joking about the unusual names of her children at one point, but the subtext throughout this is that Palin was smart enough to see through Vladimir Putin — and Obama wasn’t. Watch for a cameo from “Obama” near the end (via Katie Pavlich):

Of course, as with all things Palin, her Tonight Show appearance sparked passion on line … especially from her detractors. Twitchy cataloged some of the worst of the social-media remarks, where full-political-spectrum comedy gets less than full-spectrum appreciation. Here are a couple of the cleaner comments:

Jimmy Fallon just showcased the idiot Sarah Palin AND flogged her TV show. PISSES ME OFF. #FallonTonight #SoDisappointed

— Jill Kuraitis (@JillKuraitis) April 3, 2014

@Carolcdt @FallonTonight #NBC agreed vs disgusting @SarahPalinUSA … Hope she didn't bring open 24/7 Pig Bristol wt her :-/

— MeowSays1 (@MeowSays1) April 3, 2014

And so on. The most interesting aspect of this for me is what it promises from Fallon and the new Tonight Show perspective. Even if the segment sags a bit in the middle, committing a whole segment to having Palin make fun of Obama is remarkable … especially for NBC.

I watched the skit, and it was funny, but I am amazed that the suits at nbc/comcast allow Fallon the leeway to thump the one.

He has been pretty hard on obamacare, and while it's all true the suits might pay Fallon a visit and get him to soft pedal jokes about the one.

Fallon will take a jab at the left every once in a while, but he still leans heavily to the left. It was his band that played a song called, “Lyin’ B*tch” when Michelle Bachmann came on his show.

I wonder if he saw Michele Bachmann expose "lying bitch" Mike Morell as he spent three hours covering for Hillary in the Benghazi hearing yesterday and what he thought of that.

This was a very good skit.

My compliments, and maybe I was too quick to ignore the show. We shall see.

Our media is (wildly) to the left. If this show isn’t, then perhaps I need to watch.

Well done.

I think Fallon is very talented and I like the way he jumps into these skits like Carson use to. He can play, sing, and is a very good host. He was also at the 911 Memorial Concert for NY, which I will never forget those who attended. As long as he bashes both sides, I’m fine with it.

I haven’t watched the Tonight Show since Johnny Carson left. But last night I was channel surfing during some commercials on another channel and just happened to drop in on this skit in the middle. I was flabbergasted that the left wing Hollywood pervert demons would actually have the courage to put Sarah Palin on their show.

Damn I wish she were our president.

I think somebody told him that he was thought of as too “pro-Obama” hence some of these skits to appear more balanced.

I still say though, he’s an Obama-loving lib.

Media types get to take an occasional shot at Dems during the “off years”.
It allows them to proclaim how “objective” they are.
By fall 2016 he’ll be back in cheerleader mode.
