Every time I feel a quake no matter the size it always brings me back to Northridge, Im on the Westside and I felt that one BAD..every time we have a quake I always wonder when the shaking starts if its going to stop or continue like Northridge did, it felt like it was never going to stop

Too far away from the New Madrid to have any real effect over here in SW, MO. However, we do get flattened by tornadoes regularly. In fact the house that we live in was flattened 11 years ago.
I grew up in hurricane country. It’s always something.

“Too far away from the New Madrid to have any real effect over here in SW, MO.”

You won’t be too far if the New Madrid shakes another 8.0 quake.

According to wiki church bells rang in Boston. Sidewalks cracked in Washington. Intense shaking was felt in Pittsburgh and Norfolk.

Your rock in the midwest can hold more energy than the rock here in California. So we get quakes before the rock can save up as much energy. In contrast you will rarely get quakes, but when you do they will be huge.

3.6 isn’t worth mentioning.

It’s not worthwhile until it is over 7!

The last one cracked a few walls in Springfield. Very little damage. None to wood framed structures.
