FULL TITLE: The moment woman jogger in headphones is knocked to the floor and handcuffed by cops because she didn't hear when they tried to ticket her for jaywalking

A female jogger out for a run in Austin, Texas, Thursday was arrested, handcuffed and hauled into a police cruiser screaming and in tears for allegedly failing to identify herself.

The entire incident was caught on video recorded by Chris Quintero, a student at University of Texas who was sitting in a cafe across the street and witnessed the woman being taken into custody.

The arrest took place just before 11am outside a fast-food eatery near the intersection of 24th Street and San Antonio Street in Austin.

Oh come on...if you are a JBT then you get to ...um... tackle pretty girls in short shorts and handcuff them, maybe even pat them down, all in the name of enforcing really old laws that most people think nothing about in their daily lives. What a great job! What, you think that the police are tackling smelly old homeless guys when they jaywalk?!Tackle the babes! It’s the JBT way.

Worth repeating.

Police are not your friends.

dumb a** student wearing ear buds music up so loud they can’t hear anything jaywalking and the cops tried to get her to stop and she just kept walking so...

...slam her to the ground, arrest her, and toss her ass in jail, b/c all of those things are highly dangerous and very illegal.

That misses the point. Treating the police as not being your friends ignores the problem of Enforcement protocol and it ignores the problem of stupid old laws being enforced only when it is convenient.

Without a defined system in place to obsolete old laws at regular expiration dates, what is left in place is a system that forever stacks new laws onto old laws until the entire nation is mired in nothing but law after law such that everything becomes illegal eventually.

According to the police...that’s why she was arrested. From the article:

.........”An Austin police spokesperson told MailOnline Friday that Miss Stephen was handcuffed and taken into custody for failing to give her name to police.”..........

Thanks

Why did the cops cross the road?
To cuff the jogging jaywalker.

Good thing she didn’t have her dog. The only thing these thugs enjoy more than beating up women and shooting unarmed kids is shooting your 10 lb. dog.

“Police are not your friend” is a general rule of thumb and, therefore, a general statement.

Selective enforcement along with a continuous legislative avalanche is a product of the vast administrative state. A “sunset clause” should be included into almost every piece of legislation and regulation. However, that’s a threat to those feeding at the trough and the masterminds.

Wrong. We are still a sea of red. Even in deep south TX we got rid of the flaming criminal Dem and elected a Tea Party Repub. Our problem is that the courts have jerrymandered in a number of Dems.

Hummm, how does that jive with Miranda Rights? If one has the Right to remain silent....I can see, MAYBE, if being detained vs. arrested.

Still, enough blame to go around: pedestrians thinking they’re above the Law vs. heavy handed police/police state

...gotta love the inherent defensiveness of a "preemptive strike". Anyone who disagrees is now a hater...

Perhaps I wasn't referring to you. Or perhaps the fact that you answered to the description means you are.

Believe me, there are plenty of posters here who have absolute contempt for anyone in the police profession, without regard to past record or evidence otherwise. They think all police are immediately guilty by association.

What’s the basis of the criticism in this story?

Please elaborate.

Sorry, but the police officer only grabber her hand AFTER he told her to stop. But I suppose people like you will believe what you want to believe the facts be damned.

It’s probably a good thing she did not turn around and kick the police officer. Doing so would likely have resulted in felony charges.

I also love the crying by the little princess. “I didn’t do anything wrong!” Yes, she did.

No, refusing to stop and to identify yourself to a police officer makes her a punk. And your not coming to grips with that fact makes me wonder if your IQ is as high as the Fahrenheit temperature here in Austin today.

Your name calling does not bother me because I know your primary care physician is a proctologist and that they four best years of your life were the ones you spent in sixth grade.

Man, how I hope that you are right and I am wrong.

Notice how the mayor of the largest city in TX “underwent” a same-sex-marriage procedure not too long ago?

Also notice how the last three mayors of that same city were flaming liberals?

Freeper basil and I hijacked the previous thread She Allegedly Went on a Simple Jog in Her Toe Shoes. So Why Did She End Up...in Handcuffs? yesterday and this morning. This is Art Acevedo and the APD being idiots. They should be chasing the non law abiding bicyclists in Austin.

If she had been smart, she would have run as fast as possible and left the two donut disposal machines drop due to cardiac arrest.

Isn’t Austin an ultra lib stronghold?

Just the west and east sides are, but most smart people have move out of the lib areas. That leaves room for more libs which makes for a more target rich environment.

Suburbs are conservative for the most part. Don't dare go east of IH 35 from Ben White to Braker Lane after 9:00 PM unless you can carry a cop on your back or a .45 cal. in your pocket.
