Darrell Hammond played Sean Connery in those Jeopardy skits. Hilarious!

“IMO, Will Ferrell is hilarious in 1 minute increments. He could make a good living on movie cameos....come in, steal a scene or two, then leave.”

Yes, such as “Austin Powers.” I thought the title sequence of Anchorman was funny, when he is sitting at the desk, “I love scotch! Scotch scotch scotch. Down into my belly...” I never really “got” Adam Sandler when he was on SNL, or his movies until I was “forced” to watch “Happy Gilmore.” Funny movie...

Rob Schneider, Chris Farley, and David Spade,

Say what?

“I thought the scene with the reporters fighting was funny, especially when the PBS guys showed up.”

Agreed. The “West Side Story” style rumbles were very funny.

Well, that was the only thing that was clearly there because it was in the first movie, I know why they did it, because it was such a memorable part of the first movie, but it just really didn’t work at any level, and the movie would have been better had they dropped the scene entirely.... they did have tons of cameos in that scene, but it really just didn’t work.

I am no fan of Farrell, the Anchorman movie was one of the few I actually could make it all the way through, the problem with this improvish type movie, is, it either works or it doesn’t and when something works in can be funny, but unfortunately those deciding if something worked or not are usually the same people doing it, so things wind up in the final product that probably shouldn’t be.

It was not the worst movie on the planet, but like all movies of this type its nothing earth shattering... You’ll probably chuckle a few times, unless you are major fan of Farrell’s. Otherwise its highly forgettable. Which can be said of nearly ALL movies in this vein.

Happy Gilmore was Adam Sandler's high point. It's been all downhill since. It's my second favorite golf movie, after Caddyshack.

Yes - he was funny in Wedding Crashers, for example, but that's about as much as one can take of him.

Sandler can be hit and miss with his comedy movies.... some are solidly funny others are just stinkers... I definitely put Sandler above Ferrell or Black... not that I think everything he’s done is great, but he’s far better on average than the other two.

Dennis Miller has been asked about that movie on his radio show and even he says he’s never seen it.

Yeah, now that I think about it, Sandler was in a short handful of chick flicks that I was dragged to on occasion by Mrs WBill.

He was tolerable, however, they weren't comedies. Just light entertainment. He played a likeable sort of doofus.

I’ve seen his movies on cable and some of his SNL skits. I honestly can say I have not found one thing that he has done funny.

“Oh yeah - his celebrity jeopardy skits were hilarious. But they were written for him, and he was the straight man.”

I feel the same about Steve Martin. He was much better in movies where he was the straight man. When he was the comic lead he tried way too hard.

I have never thought Will Ferrell is funny.

I’ve seen nothing in the ads for this movie that would lead me to change my mind.

Funny enough... this thread had me thinking about Idiocracy. There should be a standing order to all Freepers that if you find out it will be on the air, to give everyone a head’s up.

Well, anyway... When I was home for Christmas, I convinced my father to spend $2.99 and download Idiocracy... I had a feeling he would enjoy the satire of the film, but at the same time I was concerned he would lose interest.

While I was home, I think he watched it 3 times, and kept coming to me telling me all the funny little things he previously missed.
