California man falls off Bay bridge after allegedly attempting to throw wife over

Xavier McClinton, 47, was driving over the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge when witnesses say he grabbed his wife and attempted to throw her over the edge. Good Samaritans were able to save the woman but McClinton plunged 15 feet. He was rescued by the Coast Guard.

Stupid New York headline writer…the “Bay Bridge” runs between Oakland and San Francisco goes past Treasure Island.

The bridge in question is the highway 92 bridge…. but at least the ne’er do well got what he deserved

I used to live in San Mateo, and I remember two things that are somewhat germane here.

One, there is a Kehoe Avenue in San Mateo, and two, there is a low bridge (railroad crossing) where a local rental company’s trucks are always getting creamed because idiot customers don’t pay attention to the fact that they have less than 10 feet of clearance and the truck they’re driving is 13 feet tall (I think it was Tilton Avenue).

I was in the rental company’s lobby one time (over 20 years ago) and they had multiple photographs of their wrecked vehicles, and they implored their customers to stay away from the low overpasses!
