All the ethnic groups listed have the majority of their roots in America for many years, with the exception of the Mexicans which are number 4 only because their number doubled from 1990 to 2000. May be more now in 2013. The changing face of America.

My Palatine German ancestors Johann Georg Kast and Annas Margaretha Fag/Feck arrived in 1710

Queen Anne sent 3,000 of them to the Albany, NY area in1709-11 to cut down pine trees to make pitch and tar to seal Enlish navy wooden ships..

however it was too cold for that particular tree it grew in the carolinas...

My ancestor Johann fought in that war in 1711, Queen Anne’s War..against the French and indians...

with 3,000 arriving early like that and more later then yes they would have many descendants...

My ancestors came over in about the 4th or 5th boat to arrive on our shores. They came from England. Two of my antecedents were in the 1st and 2nd Houses of Burgesses.

I have a little German in me but my ancestor in that group fought in the Revolutionary War.

1. That 80 pct of European ancestry included Hispanics, most of whom are racially mixed, ie nonwhite.

2. Americans of English ancestry are a small and dwindling minority, only bolstered if you include the Scots and Scots Irosh who form the bulk of the white population of the South. Most of the rest of us American whites do NOT consider the UK our mother country, and always found the WASPs to be laughable in their insistence that they are a "majority."

I guess I am one of those Englishmen that moved to the American category. In more recent years I have found that my origination was the area just south of Lancashire. Interestingly enough even after ten generations in the New World, my wife’s family originated only a few miles east of there. I looked up the origination of my Scot ancestry of my grandmother’s line and it is from a few miles north across the Scottish border. Small world.

My first English arrived in 1630 to MASS with Wintrops Fleet..

I was in Boston this summer and learnt that Boston dates from 1630 and that “fleet”

So my ancestors were there at the founding

Gov Wintrop had 11 ships with about 1,00 people from Suffolk, Gloustershire and some other county in England..

the Mayflower of 1620 was one of the ships..

I have the list of all 11 ships if someone wants them...

My ancestors moved to New York colony later...

My ancestors to New York City arrived on the first ship the Neuiw Nederlandt in 1623..

and then I had ancestors on one of “the First Four Ships” to New Zealand Dec 1850..

That is where my mothers family hails from. I guess “from” being the key word.
