Levinonomics for America
American Spectator ^ | 08/29/13 | Mark R. Levin

America is in a constitutional crisis as well as an economic crisis. The problem is not just Barack Obama. It is the entire Democrat party, which has been taken over by Marxists (that is a literal truth and not just hyperbole), and which caused and continues to perpetuate both crises.

I’m for a convention.

I say let’s rumble.

There’s no constitution now. Maybe we will come out of a convention with one.

Not sure the Democrats in Congress are taken in by Marxism.

They are all frightened to think for themselves.
They know that Obama and Pelosi will come down on them with both feet at any hint of thinking for themselves.
Harry Reid is ruled by Valerie Jarrett IMO.

Certainly not all Democrats are not stupid enough to see the damage being done, but they all like their cushy jobs at the Hill and they know if they sway from the party line they are toast. Now people like Steny Hoyer, they are the real Marxists. This a-hole never worked a day in his life has been sucking on the Government Teat since college .

Has a black following and a white Yellow dog following that keeps putting him back as long as he keeps the entitlements and favors flowing.

I would have to consider the long-term effects and unintended consquences of Levin’s amendments, but on the surface they seem reasonable.

I would suggest that a convention also consider two additional changes to the Constitution:

1) Strike the “well-regulated militia” clause from the Second Amendment. It has served as a hiding place for anti-gun ambushes;

2) Add an amendment defining “marriage” as the exclusive union between one man and one woman.

It might also make sense to clarify the “free exercise” clause of the First Amendment to ensure that the rights of religious practice are protected not just at places of worship but in the everyday world.

The current makeup of State Houses looks like there would be 17 States against calling for a an amendment convention - exactly 1/3 and enough to get started. Then we'd need to flip 5 of them to pass the amendments. Pretty onerous.
