Here is a dumb thing you should never do: watch the 007 caper You Only Live Twice with your feminist American girlfriend a woman of color to boot. In a series renowned for its sexism, the Japan entry takes the biscuit.
My date night was first upset as Bond is massaged in a bathhouse by Aki, an improbably svelte and doe-eyed assistant, who whispers that she will enjoy very much serving under him. The feminist girlfriend, adorable if not exactly svelte, emits a derisive snort. What is she a slave?
When Bond and another sexiful nymph, the pearl diver Kissy Suzuki, search for the villains hideout in the Kyushu mountains, the feminist girlfriend at last blows a fuse. Why is that chick running around in a bikini and high heels on a volcano?
It is a valid point that I have given a lot of thought. The honest answer can only be that Kissy Suzuki understands what men like, the recesses of the lizard brain, and that she is guilelessly happy to deliver. No wonder my date night went south.
Any cultural interaction can trigger fantasies, a pushing of buttons in the collective unconscious. Few of these fantasies, though, seem as keen as the one Western males have of Asian females (and this, in turn, pushes buttons for non-Asian females). What lies beneath this attraction besides obvious physical features? And what are the fantasies driving yellow fever, the fetish for Orientals that can make Western guys in Japan act like brats in a toy shop?

I was stationed at Yokota AB in Japan for three years. Never married a Japanese woman, but did date my fair share. One of the things that really struck me was the lack of the feminist attitude. They took care of themselves, dressed well, and genuinely appreciative for the little things such as opening a door. Train stations in the evening could give a person whiplash from all the attractive women coming home in their business outfits.
Having traveled through a lot of Asia, I still prefer Japan to any of the other countries.
Having married an Indian woman I can agree. they treat you with much better respect and actually take wedding vows seriously... and very hard for them them to not stay married. And they take raising kids and education VERY seriously.
I just got back from India and my wifes Nieces and Nephews are allin the 10-12 grade range. All want to be Physists/Docs etc... and have scary good grades. And I mean good grades in REAL subject Math/Sci/Eng etc...
At an early age, guys have it drummed into them that if they want a girl to stick around, it's a good idea to make an effort to make her happy.
Some feminists object to the very simple complementary truth: A man is much more likely to stick around if the woman makes an effort to keep him happy.
"feminist girlfriend at last blows a fuse [saying] 'Why is that chick running around in a bikini and high heels on a volcano?' "
That dude needs help. Everyone knows that if you want to get lucky with a feminist gal, you order "Mama Mia" on Netflix. Feminists might be easy to get into the sack but their outrage filters have low thresholds and are unpredictable.
Do you keep a separate kimchee fridge? We do since it didn't take long for me to discover that the odor of kimchee will permeate the whole fridge. The radish/oyster kimchee is amazingly potent.
This year we're raising some "깻잎" (perilla), hard-neck garlic for the scapes "마늘쫑," and (hopefully) some Korean hot peppers "고추." And if the darned deer stay away, maybe my wife will get to have some of the Asian pears "배" that are slowly growing on the tree in the back.
Definitely good folks with their own way of looking at things, that's for sure!
Don’t even start me on Indians, but probably no different than even Nigerians in this country. Where I work there’s a Nigerian who sometimes tells me about people at his church - so for fun, I ask him what that person does. He’s either an executive, brain surgeon, or something similar. Needless to say one of his daughters will be a doctor, the other a nurse practitioner. Then I walk by the desk of an American, who proudly displays a picture of her son decked out in a football uniform and not even knowing how to smile. The kid will likely go nowhere, either in football, or in academics, but will need new knees by age 50, but won’t be able to afford the flight to Costa Rica to get the surgery (obviously, the days of insurance-paid knee replacements are numbered in the states).
Great job on the wife. In her culture, she would be considered a complete failure if she leaves you without a really good cause (as in being beaten or equivalent). You not doing the dishes or picking up your socks doesn’t cut it. And should you wonder off with another woman, they will look at her to try figure out what she did wrong to lose you - but then that doesn’t happen, because she knows what it takes to keep her guy happy.
TOTALLY DIFFERENT than when an American woman gets with her feminist friends or even her family (in most cases).
Her family is VERY big into church, split between Prot/Catholics.
but probably the nicest kindest people I have ever met. They go WAY out of their way to help you out.
The education there is really amazing. Those kids are studying things in HS that I NEVER learned... and they are expected be in the 95%+ range...
Yes I am a very lucky man. I couldnt have found a nicer more caring person then my wife if i tried. And the fact that she turns heads is a plus :)
Asian women make the best sounds during sex.
I read the original novel, in 1967. I had ‘yellow fever’, and fed it quite well, while serving my country in SouthEast Asia for three years. By the time I was re-assigned stateside, I was well cured. Between my examinations of Siamese, Laotian, Cambodian, and Malay cultures, and their each ‘old-school’ ways of life, I am still unsure which, “won the debate”.
If someone were to ask me, “Would I do that, again?”, I must include those other moments of induced self-preservation, under ‘the rocket’s red glare’, the booms of exploding ornance, and that annoying toy-rifle spring sproinging next to my ear. And all balanced with working in warehouse yards in monsoon rains, open cab truck trips through gorgeous countrysides, and quiet moments, best left as that.
So, my answer would, and must be, ‘I have the gift of life and age to be able to answer that question’ with a smile!
Confucius was wise.
“The education there is really amazing. Those kids are studying things in HS that I NEVER learned... and they are expected be in the 95%+ range...”
They figured out what most American parents figure out way too late - which is that those smiling, somewhat overweight, teachers are NOT ABOUT to educate their kids. I suspect what happened (or happens) is that the parents are highly educated back home. They get here, they get together and compare notes, and quickly realize what a dump our schools are - so they develop their own after-schooling, and basically take over the education of their kids.
So the kids still show up in school, usually public, and they look like real geniuses, and yes, they’re probably smarter than average - but they only look brilliant because their parents are on to the scam we call “education” and make damn sure their kids don’t get caught up in it.
If you want some to see real sexism today watch the uncensored version of the song Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke.
You sat down on date-night to watch a testosterone movie?
- fool man climb tree to get cherries; wise man spread limbs.
Good thing the girlfriend wasn't reading the book, or really, any of the books in the series. Way more, um, stuff, happens in them regarding women, that in any of the movies.
Amen brother! Feminism teaches women to be suspect and adversarial toward men.
Its been my observation that in most American households, when the wife is unhappy, she ensures that every living creature in the home is unhappy. Since everyone is unhappy now and then for their own reasons, this doubles everyones unhappiness.
The question is, why is a Texan dating a feminist in the first place? If she was stunningly beautiful I could understand simple male stupidity, but the post specifically says she is non-svelte. This is madness. By definition is she not adorable. Then you’ll wonder why you’re in divorce court being financially and emotionally destroyed.
A lot of the appeal is physical. Men are innately programmed to seek youth and fertility in women, and the Asian woman, with large eyes, round face, and tiny nose, looks like the face of a teenage Caucasian female. That is the Asian bone structure so she will look like a teenager long after the Caucasian ages. A Caucasian woman can be just as sweet, supportive, adoring, wise, kind, sexually giving, and fit, and perhaps even more curvaceous, but the Asian woman will win every time.
Note the glints of steel in the Asian woman’s eye, though. They can be very damn tough, and in the right situation they can be as hard and vicious as any white trailer-trash.
There are, of course, significant racial and national specifications within her advice about which Asian women are actually qualified (hint: avoid Vietnam...) :)
You should never watch ANY Bond films with feminists, especially the Sean Connory classics. Or perhaps with any woman. Bond films are guy films, to be watched with your buddies.
Bond disturbs women at a fundamental level. He is an Alpha Male that every woman wants. All the women want to sleep with him. But the series drives home one important point, which women are uncomfortable confronting: when the adventure is over, the Alpha Male moves on. Every woman, no matter how beautiful and sexy, can be replaced at the next destination.
Compare and contrast "chick flicks" which always end with the girl getting the guy, with the presumption that the relationship will be eternal.
