SARAH Palin has been urged to get a makeover — by her own daughter!

Willow Palin, 18, recently completed a hairdressing program at Penrose Academy in Scottsdale, Ariz. She’s planning on opening her own salon, says a source, and wants Mom to be her first customer.

“Willow thinks Sarah’s appearance is old and tired. She wants to give her mother a fresh, new hairstyle – something that will make her look younger,” a source revealed.

“Sarah’s been reluctant to change her look because it’s so identifiable. But Willow is convinced she can win her mom over.”

According to Sarah, Willow has “a great career ahead of her doing something she loves in a recession-proof industry (everyone needs their hair cut after all!).”(continued)

New photos of Sarah Palin looking very thin have caused a stir online, and now the former Alaska governor and 2008 VP nominee tells PEOPLE she’s just fine and is, in fact, working with her family on a new fitness book.

In an email to PEOPLE on Tuesday, Palin – who’s known to treat houseguests to a smorgasbord of homemade treats such as moose chili, chocolate cream pies, pecan pies and lemon meringue pies – wrote, “Our family is writing a book on fitness and self-discipline focusing on where we get our energy and balance as we still eat our beloved homemade comfort foods!”

Palin, 48, says she will discuss the topics in “our unique and motivating book.”

“We promise you what we do works and allows a fulfilling quality of life and sustenance anyone can enjoy,” she adds.

It is unclear if Palin has a contract for the upcoming book or when the work will be published.

Women in Hollywood pay a fortune to TRY to be beautiful, and they cannot compare to Sarah, no matter how many surgeries or how much money they spend. And, it seems to me that many of them have been coming out of their surgeries looking mighty spooky looking these days!

Sarah is an absolute natural beauty, inside and out.

I totally agree with Dartman. She carries more “gravitas” as she ages.

A younger look is the opposite of what she needs. Willow doesn’t understand marketing to the whole populace who are crying out for a real leader.

My wife is in her mid-sixties and is more beautiful than ever. Sarah’s the same - she’s more beautiful as she ages.......

Willow - sadly - lacks both the intelligence and wisdom of her mother.

I think Sarah would benefit from an updated look, but not because she needs to look younger. She needs to look refreshed and renewed, IMO. It may also cause people to pause and take another look at Sarah, and see her as different from how the media defined her in the past.

Agreed. I hated when I saw these pics. She looks better with a little more weight, staying out of our brutal AZ sun and more polished.

She's spending a lot more time here in AZ and as much as I LOVE it here, in certain areas it can be a very superficial place, especially over where her digs are.

My guess, Willow did that “look” (probably around Halloween) for a grade. Theatrical make up IS covered in alot of programs, and it teaches not only application for a specific set of circumstances but also techniques that are used in “day” looks. It all about the symmetry (or not so much) of the face.
