Music thread for all you old hippies (vanity, oh yeah)
some former hippie

Posted on 03/16/2013 3:31:44 PM PDT by West Texas Chuck

Who among us used to be one of those long-haired flea-infested dope-smoking denizens of the rock concert world?

Guilty. And recovered.

Post up some old tunes for a Saturday night.

Hard to believe that Ed King, one of the founding members of Lynyrd Skynyrd came from The Strawberry Alarm Clock.

Like the Dead and others, some stuff just doesn’t come across with the same panache on recordings. Try

It’s actually good to see that some of the members of the legendary one hit wonder bands survived, continued and thrived.

Including the now-forgotten pioneers of the ‘San Francisco sound’, The Charlatans:

Ahhh, so that's the reason why they had to refer to the early 90s British band as the "Charlatans UK".

Tangerine Dream - “Bathtub Session,” filmed 1969 in the ruins at Potsdamer Platz. Very artsy period piece, good quality, the visuals are nice.

Came on the scene way too late to be a hippie but I think 70's music was the best musical era. I've been listening to Van Morrison station quite a bit on Pandora lately and heard this song for the first time only a few days ago, and it's gem. Morrison is a musical poet and sadly overlooked by many. Their loss, though.

As you can probably tell I love Judith Durham and the Seekers.

Here’s “Georgy Girl” from 1967 not exactly hippie but an entirely beautiful voice from the hippie era.
