This thread is for survivers of the sequester to document the disaster for future generations once civilization is rebuilt.
I just woke up, Did we survive ?
Power still on here as well.
Drinking some coffee, before it is all gone.
I heard half the planet is now in darkness.
Sequestration... it’s the new global warming
What does the Mayan calendar say about today????
“CRISIS ‘R’ US” 1600 PENNSYLVANIAN AVENUE - OPEN 24/7
We are experiencing Snowquestration on a large scale today! We were supposed to get 6 inches, but we only got 4 - a 33% cut in snow thanks to George Bush and every republican ever born.
I thought I saw a zombie this morning, but I was just looking in the mirror. Guess I need a haircut.
Seacrestation: What Maxine Waters calls it, and I assume is death by too much Ryan Seacrest exposure.
See Castration: What is happening to the GOP in front of our eyes.
See Queer Station: The Gay lobby trying to raise their position in society.
I had to switch to 4WD to get over the decomposing corpses of furloughed federal employees this morning, but other than the stench, no problems.
Rumors of cannibalism are, it appears, mostly exaggerated. Just for my own peace of mind, I’m not going to ask the Mrs. about what’s in tonight’s casserole, though.
It's just like when Y2K happened and my AOL account tried to kill me.
I am very optimistic, I will at the very least, make it through today.
Obama and the news media = chicken little “the sky is falling”.
I think we’ll be ok . I’ll toast to the sequester!
I just heard on Beck’s show that Oreo has reduced doublestuff to 1.98stuff.
“This thread is for survivers of the sequester to document the disaster for future generations once civilization is rebuilt.”
Hey now... :)
The sequester will be the happiest day of my life because that is the fist time that they have EVER cut government EVER.do you all understand the significance of that? I toast to the sequester!
I heard that Charles Manson and his Family have been released because the government can no longer afford to keep them in prison. Reportedly, they were driven to a local hardware store and released.
Here in New York somehow the sun managed to rise without federal help. I noticed some green shoots coming up without the Department of Agriculture. I dont have direct knowledge so I may be wrong but I heard some kid learned something today without the Department of Education. I was sort of hoping the IRS would shut down and I wouldnt have to report what my fair share is this year. I did see a bunch of people lined up at the Board of Elections in prison blues registering to vote.
And on the other half all the street lights are OFF!!!
Well, everything seems normal here, but around 1:00 this morning my cat puked on the bedroom floor.
I laid in some flat irons, ribs, chicken and frozen veggies to last a few weeks.
I’m going to the post office.
If I don’t return, tell my family I loved them.
IT APPEARS TO BE ERODING!!!
For those unaware, the FDIC pays its bills from the insurance dues charged to banks...i.e. the taxpayers don't pay our expenses.
For the last two years, the FDIC has been rated "Best Agency to Work For" by its employees, 90% of whom are on term contracts.
For me, the work is challenging, and it's a joy to come to work each day.
Deroy Murdock of the National review made an astute observation.
If Obama was really interested in governing and is really concerned for the good of the country, he should know what to cut and what to preserve.
Instead, he is simply interested in playing politics and demonizing Republicans.
This is for all low information voters ....
Senator Marco Rubio and Representative Tom Price (R., Ga.) co-authored the Decrease Spending Now Act. It would shift to debt relief a whopping $45 billion in tax revenues now stalled in dormant federal accounts.
Hundreds of billions of dollars are borrowed and then left unspent because Congress routinely bites off more than it can chew, Rubio stated. Added Price: Leaving billions of taxpayer dollars to gather dust in federal coffers only encourages fiscal irresponsibility. By rescinding this unspent and unobligated money funds that the government clearly can do without we can contribute to the larger goal of breaking the governments habit of borrowing and spending money we cannot afford.
Senator Rand Paul would cut $85 billion annually by not replacing departed federal employees ($6.5 billion in savings), bringing the $128,226 in average yearly federal civilian compensation closer to the private sectors $64,560 (reducing $32 billion), curtailing federal travel by 25 percent ($2.25 billion), limiting Pentagon research to military applications ($6 billion), requiring competitive bids on government contracts and paying market wages on federal projects ($19 billion), and halving foreign aid ($20 billion).
The Public Interest Research Group and the National Taxpayers Union jointly identified $1 trillion in ten-year savings through 56 budget cuts that liberals and conservatives should love. These range from killing a $10 million biodiesel-education grant to a $160 billion modernization of federal computer systems. The $77 billion Crop Insurance program should be uprooted. The feds own some 55,500 buildings that are not utilized or underutilized. Sell them. Even giving them away would save taxpayers $17 billion in maintenance expenses on empty buildings!
PIRG and NTU urge Medicare to calibrate excessive labor and office-space outlays with the actual prices that prevail in lower-cost communities. Savings: $47.6 billion.
Rather than spend $179,750 per hour to fly Air Force One from rally to rally to demonize Republicans, Obama should sit still long enough to send Congress a budget request. The federal Budget and Accounting Act of 1921 mandates that the presidents spending plan reach Capitol Hill by the first Monday of February. Obamas last two budgets arrived late, and this years is AWOL. Before Obama barks at Republicans yet again, he should start doing his job.
Obama keeps harping about teachers, police, firefighters not being paid, airplane delays, and the hollowing of our defense when there is so much FAT that can be cut.
I hope it’s still there when I go on vacation in July.
man vanishes after being suckeed into sinkhole
Was it Obama and his minions? Maybe God is answering our prayers
But you, God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of decay; the bloodthirsty and deceitful will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you.
Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.
All was OK until I had to reboot my PC....something about an electrical shortage.
Car still runs although I expect to see gas at $42.50 per gallon when I pass the station this morning.
Didn’t have the normal navy flyover to welcome me this am...what’s up with that?
Wind seems to be blowing a little harder today than normal...all the hot air escaping DC.
I think I’ll go to lunch early today, before all the food shortages hit at Subway.
Alas, they didn’t cut government. Only in the Alice in Wonderland world of Federal baseline budgeting does the sequestration represent a cut to government spending: the 2% doesn’t cancel all of the built in increases to Federal spending produced by the baseline calculation: the Feds will still spend more this year than they did last year.
Just remember: a 2% cut is what all working families got when the payroll tax holiday ended.
Still haven’t gotten any cat litter...drat.
At this reckless pace of erosion caused by the sequestration, the Grand Canyon will be flatter than Kansas by then.
I'm so sorry.
Well even by YOUR calculations , it’s better than the what 20% annual growth in government?
Sequester = good thing
Wait. . .I thought it was supposed to be a 2% cut. Shouldn’t they have reduced double stuff to 1.96-stuff? Or was there a baseline increase in double-stuffness?
Yes, just not so good as you'd been making it out to be.
Hang on, my boss at my former job is calling my cell phone. Wonder what this is about????
“I just woke up, Did we survive ?”
BOL! The same here. We were out carousing last night, actually going to good high school play.
This morning I noticed:
Our home was still standing and our neighbors’s homes.
Our fishwrap had been delivered apparently without the delivery lady being shot, stabbed, raped, mugged or suffering a car jacking.
Some kids were walking by to their shool, and other were being NasCared by their mothers.
Our water, sewer, electicity, natural gas, cable tv, internet and phone systems were still working.
My trophy wife and her gene pool like to talk in the early morning. She uses our landline and her cell. Everyone in her gene pool was still safe and alive. She texted our grandkids, and they were on their way to schools which where still open. Their NasCar driver, our DIL, said the traffic lights worked and traffic to and from the school. She and the kids had no problem. When, she got home her, I phone worked.
Our adult sons drove trucks or rode their bikes to their real work places with zero problems and everything is working including them and their work staff.
My wife said the local tv stations which make a cat in a tree a major story, had no disasters to show.
Obviously the Seq bs has really impacted us.
Yeah you know everything (actually not)
all I hear is that government will be cut.
Any cut in government anywhere is the best news ever because THAT has never happened ok , get it? Now I don’t care what you say and I’ll post what I want.
What’s to say any new debt bill would be adhered to any way?
Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974
Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985
Budget Enforcement Act of 1990
Balanced Budget Act of 1997.
“Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP Balanced Budget Refinement Act of 1999”
Restoring Fiscal Discipline Act of 2007
Yep, just one more bill ought to do it.
Well, this sucks.
Thinking everything would be different when I got up, it’s not.
I still have to make lunches, make beds, do laundry, dust/vacuum and think about what to have for dinner and whether I need to run to grocery store.
