Man carried gun, machete, Valentine's Day card as he stalked Emmaus woman, police say

A Montgomery County man accused of stalking his estranged wife was wearing body armor and carrying weapons Monday when Emmaus police pulled him over as he was following her to work, court records say.

Flint Andrew Staton had a loaded .40 caliber handgun, a stun baton, a machete, a variety of knives, a baseball bat, brass knuckles and other weapons in his vehicle at the time of his arrest, records said.

Officers found 39 "pieces of paper depicting various forms of violence and killing," a Valentine's Day card bearing the message "A Promise for My Wife," handcuffs, a black, stiletto-heeled shoe, duct tape, several boxes of gloves and a ski mask in Staton's 1997 Toyota Avalon, records said.

The 30-year-old Perkiomenville, Pa., man is not allowed to have weapons and is required to stay away from his wife, borough resident Anne Staton, because she has two protection-from-abuse orders against him, records say. Flint Staton allegedly told police they might find a gun in his car, but records don't say what he planned to do with it or the other items officers found.

Police charged him with firearms not to be carried without a license, possessing instruments of crime and persons not to possess firearms, as well as stalking, prohibited offensive weapons and harassment, records say. He was arraigned tonight by District Judge David M. Howells Jr. and sent to Lehigh County Prison in lieu of posting $1 million bail.

Anne Staton told borough police Jan. 31 that she suspected Flint Staton followed her to work each morning, records say. She described him to officers, who on Monday spotted his sedan trailing her at 5:15 a.m. in the first block of Main Street, records say.

Flint Staton, of the 200 block of Fulmer Road, has violated Anne Staton's PFA orders three times in the last year, records say. Earlier this month, he was charged with stalking and related offenses for allegedly calling and texting his wife repeatedly.

The search of Flint Staton's car also yielded pepper spray, a stick handle with a screw protruding from it, ammunition for the gun, arrowheads, a Kevlar helmet, cable restraints, a couple of wigs, a notebook that belongs to Anne Staton and his PFA paperwork, police said.

Officers found computer equipment, camera equipment, a cellphone, binoculars, walkie-talkies and other materials in the car, as well.

Staton's preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 14 before Howells.

I know, right?

It's almost as disgusting as catching the linen fired out of one of them at a Pirates' game.

I LOVE THIS HAPPY ENDING! Man, so often all we have to read about is the murder/suicide when this stuff happens. So HAPPY he was caught ahead of time!

I look at this as a travesty of justice! The guy should have been sitting in jail after violating the first personal protection order against him.

And the question that hasn't been asked is why the woman hasn't been granted a concealed weapons permit to protect herself against this guy........

Went to school north of the ‘burgh in the 70’s. Tough time to be a Redskins fan.

Last year I found some IC Light here in New Mexico... it was just as I remembered it. ;)

All ‘obvious’ things aside, this is definitely the type person an ‘Asylum’ is made for.

This takes “Love means never having to say you’re sorry” to a new level.

This guy falls in the ‘Some people just need killing’ category.

He definitely needs to be taken down before he hurts himself or several others.

A poster said she needs a carry permit, she NEEDS an armed squad around her at all times. A food taster would also help, but he definitely (for her sake if nothing else) needs to be ‘taken out’.

When a psychopathic stalker is coming after you with a loaded .40 caliber handgun, a stun baton, a machete, a variety of knives, a baseball bat, brass knuckles, pepper spray, a stick handle with a screw protruding from it, ammunition for the gun, arrowheads, a legacy package of Hostess Twinkies, handcuffs, duct tape, a Valentine’s Day card, and cable restraints, it’s nice to have not one but two protection-from-abuse orders. I’d feel a whole lot safer with those than with an evil handgun for protection.

What confuses me is that kidnapping, torture, rape, and murder are all illegal, but he seems to have planned one or more of those activities. It’s surprising that someone who intended to commit those crimes would also violate two protection from abuse orders. Who would have guessed?

I’ve filed a PPO in the past. They’re worthless, except as toilet paper. However, my ex KNEW I would shoot and maybe ask questions later. Only thing that saved MY bacon.

(This all sounds SO dramatic in retrospect, LOL! It was a whole ‘nother LIFETIME ago!)

A PPO is very useful. After you shoot the SOB who broke it, you show it to the police and they go call the morgue wagon and get donuts. YOur justification is on that one piece of paper.
