Details to follow..Scott Brown not running for Kerry seat
Howie Carr alluded to this on his show Wednesday - I'm sure he and Scott are pretty chummy. I had some hope that Brown would be back in that US Senate for MA (hey, he's better than the 'RAT alternative!).
Kind of sad news, IMO.
This is such a mystery to me... I was certain he would be the first to announce a run once Kerry was out. Didn't he say something like "I'm not finished... I'll see you again." to MA voters after his loss to Granny Warren?
I don't know what other viable Republican can run in MA. It's pretty certain now that you're going to end up with a Sen. Markey or Sen. Lynch (possibly another Sen. Kennedy, God help us!).
Living in the northeast sucks, doesn't it? :-(
Hi posted by phone..to general chat by
mistake...any way to put in news-activism? Thanks!
Who runs now for GOP, Bill Weld?
Maybe Brown wants to run for MA gov in 2014
Weld is as much a Republican as Ted Kennedy’s rotting corpse.
That is probably good for the Republicans.
Brown lost the Senate seat he had. Apparently, the voters were not that impressed with his previous Senate tenure.
He would have lost anyway and will now probably run for governor. Hopefully now Keith Ablow will run!
Brad Jones, perhaps (House minority leader)? There’s got to be another qualified Republican in the state. My father-in-law on the Cape is a Republican and a good guy, but he’s 85...
If you hated Jim Jeffords, Weld is a million times worse.
Ads run against him in both 10 and 12
called him a far right Rethuglican Nazi or words
to that effect. He had to tack left to counter.
Maybe he will run for gov...poss. as a conservative/
libertarian... Democrat
Don’t discount the possibility, that unlike most politicians, Scott Brown actually has a life. He may not want to scrap and bow for “donations” (aka, bribes) to win an “election” (also called “an advance auction of stolen goods”). He may be sick and tired of having to trim his sails to tack along with the inane electorate of this benighted Commonwealth. Even if he wins, what does he have to look forward to? Mud wrestling contests with the likes of Dirty Harry and Princess Liawatha to spare the thankless electorate from the consequences of their own electorial preferences?
I love Scott Brown, but if he wants to get out of that pigsty, who can blame him?
Smart move.
Brown, despite being the incumbent, lost to a very weak candidate.
What would we lose as a nation if we simply ceded Massachusettes back to England? Frankly, it would be addition by subtraction...gone the Kennedy’s; Warren, Coup de val, B frank, Martha’s Vinyard (make the gift around the time all the libs meet there in the summer and it would be a two fer) and a host of other libs.
“Brown, despite being the incumbent, lost to a very weak candidate.”
We had the same issue in Minnesota in 2008. Norm Coleman lost to Al Franken a weak and useless candidate.
Weld can’t run. He hasn’t been back in MA long enough.
As if he would win anyway. This is the state that just elected the hardcore Marxist Lizzy Warren.
It's the off-year vs. presidential election. He has a shot in an off-year election.
I know he sucks. But that doesn't mean he'd be ten times better than typical Massachusetts Marxists, like Elizabeth Warren.
Bad news, as far as I'm concerned.
Can you say ‘Senator Deval Patrick’?.........I knew you could...........
Mini Me going to DC to be closer to Our Dear Leader?
Hmmmm.....
Agreed. btw WBZ radio said even if he won the Senate seat he’d have to run again in 2014, as that would have been the turn for the Kerry seat (Kerry got re-elected in 08)..and this time it would prob be against Joe Joe Joe Kennedy etc.
Howie Carr list ping. I orig. posted this as a vanity and in the General-Chat category by mistake—because I did it via my smartphone etc. (though I could have gotten the link
first). This is what happens when news breaks and you’re
eating pizza at the Olive Garden.
UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL..........
I’m not sure if any body here from Mass, but.
If you lived and worked here, you’ll soon discover why residents of this state are commonly called, not without justification , as “Massholes”. Hence Senator Pocahontas.
The only reason state exists today, is because it attracts foreign real high tech talent (not Zuckerman “talent”) to work in real defense research.
Time to announce, Keith!

There apparently is some sort of virus attacking the New England brain. Senator Warren? Just WTF? BTW, where is the idiotic injun slut when the fisherman need some help? Brown didn't see this coming during his brief tenure? You people awake down there?
Brown was a RINO (not that many R’s are conservative these days anyway), and a LOSER to boot.
Now, let’s get a GENUINE conservative to run and take the seat!
Psst: This is Massachusetts. Run a genuine conservative and win 10-12 per cent of the vote. But who knows. It’s worth a try.
Win the right voters. Lose the middle and the left and get another moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonbat in.
Unless you already aware, the sheeple of Massholechusetts care only about “Red Sox” and “Patriots”. Almost fascist like fanaticism, in sphere of professional sport, is prevalent in general population. But don’t ask them what they read lately, to them it’s on TV.
Even if Fidel Castro or Chavez was running for the seat, they’d win. Pavlov dog syndrome is alive and well in Bay State.
Scott Brown, by contrast, was a liberal LIAR
who pretended to be a conservative as he pushed RomneyCARE
but was eventually outed and hated and removed.
Yeah, Taxachusetts, the land of Teddy Kennedy and Fauxahontas is DYING for a true conservative to run !
So does this mean the GOP Establishment will have to (drum roll) run a conservative candidate?
Reagan won Massachusetts TWICE! He won in 1980, too.
Perhaps Mr. Romney would like to step up to the plate.
Good riddance.
Didn’t he vote for sodomites in the services?
Ugh. Yeah, good point. Kennedy and Warren. It's worse than Kennedy and Kerry.
Gimme the real scoop. Do most Massholes just stay home on election day, or what? The elected officials just ain't normal!
PS, I forgot to ask, how's Barney and the Mrissus gettin' along these days?
BWHAHAHAHAHA!!! You're kidding, right?
This is The People's Republik of Massachusetts we're talking about here... the state that just elected far-left Marxist Elizabeth Warren to replace RINO Scott Brown in the US Senate.
I always wish all conservatives well, but there's no way a "genuine conservative" will win in Marxachusetts...
*barf*
Well done KB!
My 2 cents on this: I'm not surprised given that Brown was just fired not even three months ago. I'll also predict that he will not run for governor in 2014. Why? It's a thankless job. Plus Mitten's defeat shows that although he was a governor, being the governor of this state is a negative in national politics.
Looking at the two RATS that are running is a bit interesting. Overall, Lynch is not only more conservative on the issues than Markey, but he's more conservative than Brown is/was. Brown-Lynch would have been an interesting match up. But, since this electorate just voted for Princess Fauxcahontas, I guess we'll be seeing a “Senator Markey” soon.
Take solace, Boston sports fans: Massholechusetts can reclaim the title of “State with the two worst US Senators” once again.
yay...
I think Brown would have likely won if not for Obama on top of the ticket and so many RAT voters turning out to blindly vote straight ticket Dem. He would have won if it was another midterm election. Like Governor Bob Ehrlich of Maryland, they were "popular" while in office and both were essentially "fired" for having an "R" next to their name and being on the ballot in a hugely Dem state in a year when partisan Dems turned out. The problem is liberals will blindly vote for ANY RAT much more loyally than conservatives will vote for any "R".

I still think California (which has had Babs Boxer & Feinstein as co-Senators since forever) could seriously contest that title, as could NJ (which has gone thru many Senators in recent years, but they've always been ultra-corrupt socialists, the latest disgraces being Bob "underage prostitutes" Menendez and Frank Lautencorpse.
For "State with worst Senators that shouldn't even be there in the first place because the state is not that leftist", it's a tie between Alaska's duo, DIABLO Lisa Murkowski and Mark "I got this job because my GOP predecessor was indicted on bogus charges" Begich, and Virginia's duo, the ex-RAT Governors Mark "don't call me John" Warner & Tim "the eyebrow" Kaine.
Of course, this wasn't apparent when Scott started his campaign. It took guts for him to run when few thought he would win. But he wouldn't be a likely winner this time by any means. His potential opponents would all be tougher than Coakley.
I suspect Scott Brown is tired. If he ran this time and run, he'd have to run again next year when Kerry's term expires. Four elections in four years would be draining for anybody.
go Lynch.
no excuse on Brown
Lynch voted 95% of the time with Obama. He’s no conservative democrat. Lynch is pro-life though, so I’ll give him that.
I like Scott Brown,
He took some brave votes for the GOP in the Senate.
Those who think that Cruz would have beat Warren in MA are delusional.
“The problem is liberals will blindly vote for ANY RAT much more loyally than conservatives will vote for any “R”.”
B I N G O ! ! !
That’s as perfect of an analysis that can be written, BB.
Nice Howie Carr article:
He also made some horrific votes against the GOP.
But, he was the best this People’s Republic could come up with.
