There has been a Utopia, Ohio, and there still exists a Utopia, Texas. In a country with a long history of creating idealistic communities, America may soon see another added into the mix — a city rooted in America’s past, or at least Glenn Beck’s version of it.
Mr. Beck, the outspoken conservative U.S. media personality and commentator, this month outlined his proposition to create a self-sustaining city and theme park hybrid. Independence, USA represents a harkening back to a time of a simpler America and would be built on values he sees the country as now “going away from” — freedom, truth and responsibility,
“It is the rebirth of our nation through its own principles,” Mr. Beck said on his syndicated Glenn Beck program. “You can come here and we will show you the truth of the ideas and the ideals that created this country.”
His proposed $2-billion city would be based on a free-market, limited government model. No location has been pegged down, but Mr. Beck has visited “three possible sites in three different states” and has spoken to two governors, said Mr. Beck’s TheBlaze TV website.
The self-sustaining city would include a ranch for food production, a media centre, a multi-denominational mission centre, a theme park, a research and development centre, a library, parks and baseball diamonds. It would have a communal marketplace that would serve as a public space for conducting small business and sharing ideas. Americans could either live in the city’s residential area or just come to visit.
The concept was partly inspired by Galt’s Gultch, the utopian community in Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, and by past initiatives proposed by Walt Disney...

USE DETROIT-if the plan works there it will restore America, but integrate. If you don’t integrate, you do not have the solution.
I think it sounds like a fine idea. I subscribe to The Blaze and stay up on what’s being planned. I see nothing wrong with having an area like this that can be used for learning and trying new things like energy, growing food, ... I’m sure the real history of this country will be preserved there with David Barton’s help and not the propaganda version the progressives are pushing on everyone. I don’t know why anyone would want to shoot this down.

Although I used to be a big fan, these days, Beck kinda creeps me out. There egotists always come up with a theme park/resort kind of idea, remember the Bakers?
I have noticed a change in Rush also. Although he makes fun of being “non threathening”, he has become a bit of a wimp. He seems to be using satire much more and pokes fun at the issues.
I think it is because of the fight or flight response. We are at the stage where we either have to fight (shed blood)or fly (ridicule, etc. but not actually do anything).
The new approach makes us feel good. Yea, we really told them!...High Five. Much easier than a couple to a brain pan.
And I confess, I ain’t gonna be the first to pull.
We have to use the “process”. Take back the schools, get involved in local elections, talk this baby back on track.
Is Glenn Beck back to drinking Beck Beer? Or What? A Utopia? Beck claims he is a student of History.

“Something happened to Glenn after the election. He has done a great job of waking folks up and don’t say he doesn’t have guts. Seems now he doesn’t want to think about the storm that’s coming, for whatever reason. Maybe he is resigned to a possibility that nothing can be done to prevent what’s about to happen. His morning radio show is more about meaningless prattle, Utopian dreaming and not mentioning Obama. I hope he breaks out of the funk. We need his smarts, warnings, and inspirational speeches more than ever now!”
I DO NOT see any hope for the lost or this country anymore myself. I pray and stand talk when the world wants to lean the other way. I understand the veil that is covering their mind so they can not see ( or get it) that the bible talks about...so I pray and leave the results in God’s hand.
I have been blessed to hear Rabbi Cahn talk about the Harbinger and know that God is talking to our country and I hope we repent but seeing that as a country we are going farther into the abyss I know that unless God does a miracle our country is dead. Good is bad bad is good, we make no sense anymore,,,,,,I would be for living near like minded people and as the bible says “come out from among yea”

We did not retreat from the Brits, Spanish, Germans, Soviets....the heck I am retreating from liberals, illegals, criminals, etc.. Bring it on
Rush seems to have changed since the election as well.
Sounds like he’s trying to make it a shining city on the hill to give an example of how liberty works best for everybody. I’d rather start with an existing city.
Beck has an ego as big, if not bigger, than Obama. He’s wants his own little Jonestown, and to set himself up as messiah of it. You really think he’s just going to buy a huge plot of land and then let anyone of any walk in life just move in with no strings attached? Glenn used to give great information and did wake up people as to whats going on, but after his conversion to Mormonism he’s a totally different guy. Yes his morning show is total garbage. I hate Stu and Pat and the little bit of time I tune in, I hear nothing of substance.

You were the first, missy and I only responded that Mormons (along with other pioneers) were people that sought a better life.
Somehow that angered you. I think you have a problem.
