Maybe someone here an answer this, although I may have to post this on a lib board someday. Why does the left especially hate Glenn Beck? They seem to me to hate him a lot more than Rush, who is 10* more mocking and disrespectful of the left than Beck is. Levin, Savage, Hannity, etc are small potatoes to the lefty when he has his hate on for Glenn.
It seems that they are positively obsessed with him. A news article that mentions his name will have the inevitable Beck bashers frothing at the mouth, flaming away in the comments. I still haven't figured it out.
I don’t get either.. I think it is mostly due to the fact that he is a Mormon..
Beck puts freedom first.
Leftists hate freedom.

I think part of it is your perception. Beck comes off as a little boy being picked on, while Rush comes off as the man who is the one doing the picking. Beck shows much more emtion as well.
Having said that, Glenn just recently tried to mock “the far left and the far right yelling at each other” as if he’s somehow outside of the ideological specturm himself, almost an Obama-esque “rising above it all” nonsense. He also just said he was in agreement with pro drug pro anything goes sexually Penn Jillette...this just a year after Beck said we must turn to God.
So, maybe it’s the intellectual inconsistency.....
That part I do get. He's a Mormon. Something which most of us could not give a flying f*** about, but it a show stopper for others.

Right on both counts. Beck turns Alinsky tactics back on the left, except he backs it up with facts , so the left has no response except to try and get stations to boycott him. Unfortunately, this has succeeded to a large extent, at least where I live. I can only find one station (WELI New Haven) that carries his radio show. But Beck has somewhat overcome that by forming his own network. I now pick him up on I Heart Radio whenever I want.
IMHO Beck was as big a force behind the Tea Party movement and the subsequent take over of the house as anyone. He organized rallies including a couple of big ones in Washington. I was at the one on 9/12/09 and you never saw a more peaceful well behaved group of 1.7 million people anywhere. After it was over, the folks disassembled peacefully and you never knew anyone was on the mall. Contrast that with ANY "Occupy" rally.
Why do you think disagreement means “hate”?
Reading some of the comments here, I am wondering who this Beck is you are talking about.
Beck says “God” a lot. Rush doesn’t.
First, Beck does a fairly good job of researching and reporting what he was learned. He is factual, well footnoted and presents the data in ways that almost anyone can understand, even progressives, which is why they hate him.
The information, people, places, dates and historical data, he presents is almost always in direct opposition to the progressive utopian ideology and shows its failure here and around the world, now and throughout history.
He shows us that the ideals we used to believe in are 180 degrees out from what we are being indoctrinated with now. This is NOT what progressives want and they vigorously try to Alinsky (someone I first learned about thanks to Beck) him into submission and/or silence.
Second, he ALWAYS says to do your own research.
The truth is out there, but if you don't have the time or the inclination, he will show it to you in his books and on his radio and television programs and he also shows where to find it for yourself while encouraging you to do so.
I will be among the first to say that his radio programs can be hit or miss, entertainment-wise, and his personality and style are not for everyone. His personal history and his religion are reason enough for many to turn him off or never turn him on.
That's too bad. I see him as one of the modern day riders of Paul Revere and his observations. His predictions have been highly accurate to date, and all are warning us away from the progressives and EVERYTHING they do and stand for, regardless of who they are or which party they belong to.
No wonder they hate him. No one likes to be shown how wrong they are and how dangerous their ideas and plans are. Beck does that 24/6.
Rush is a known quantity to libs - evil. End of Discussion.
Beck has a Libertarian outlook...as do some Rats....and occassionally a Rat or FOR (Friend of Rat) will say something complimentary about Beck. This causes the knee jerk over the top reaction.
Remember, he somehow got himself on CNN...a place Rush would never have a chance of getting a job at. Beck’s ‘closeness’ to libs scares the heck out of them. Imagine how ‘the world is upside down’ you would feel, if Ed Shultz started working at Fox...that’s what they felt about Beck....and it scared them.
Libs know thay have Rush pigeon holed in a box.
They haven’t quite done that with Beck...its like knowing there’s a roach in your kitchen that you can’t kill, to them.
Really? I thought Beck fell into the same cable TV black hole that Bill Maher’s been in. Of course, if Maher goes on a late night network TV talk show and does something outrageous he may get a weekend’s worth of publicity, but in general, nobody notices him except maybe us, and that’s even more true of Glenn Beck.
Levin and Savage hate Beck more than most Lefties.

Levin used to refer to Beck solely by the day-of-day that Beck's show aired.
Both Levin and Savage accuse Beck of stealing their material (I admire them both but they accuse everyone of stealing their material!); Savage belittles Beck's lack of an education.
That's true. The Duck (Jon Stewart) always tries to zing him. When you are not being mocked by The Duck, you are not doing your job!
He loves his country and has read and researched about it's founding and has passed that knowledge onto his audience. Keeping people ignorant of the true facts of the founding of America and how truly special America is, that is the goal of all lefties. Beck has effectively countered that.
Second, he is religious and believes in a higher force and lives his life accordingly.
Love of his country; love of God. Two things lefties can not stomach.
I don’t “loathe” Beck, but he often comes off as a cry-baby. He is also insipidly boring when he gets out the chalkboard. :P
As for the Mormonism, that isn’t the issue; it his synchronicity. He equates Mormonism to traditional Christianity and confuses the lines between the two. It’s as off-putting to believers as androgyny used to be for the majority of people.
You can respect another’s faith without trying to co-opt it as your own. Dennis Prager is the best example of this behavior. He doesn’t pretend to be a Christian to be a conservative.
You get a lot of abuse when that happens.
Maybe they're thinking they can get him to cry on television again.
Also, the guy who's talking about Woodrow Wilson all the time could be an better target than somebody who goes after Reid or Pelosi.
Is that because Wilson is the heart of the monster and the real enemy, or because somebody who aggressively goes after contemporary targets is considered more likely to fight back?
Liberal voters are brain dead zombies. They don’t want to know facts. The WANT to be told what to think and say.
