The three worst (at least in the last 20 years) that come to mind for me are:
1. King Kong (the Peter Jackson debacle)
2. The American (George Clooney)
3. Sahara (Matthew McConaughey)
4. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (Sean Connery)
A movie has to be absolutely horrendous, downright sickening, for me to shut it down after I’ve already wasted an hour or more. I was not able to finish any of the above.
New York City will never get over itself...
But my list includes "Less Than Zero," "In the Bedroom," and, yrs, "Inception." At least the first two didn't spend hundreds of millions of dollars to suck.
I would also include the remake of "Total Recall" and the "Three Musketeers."
I have three movies that, if they aren’t on the list, should be:
The Piano (I clapped in the theater when the piano dragged her down)
The Hours (I said “Thank God” as her body bumped along the stream bed)
Autumn in New York (This one is on the list by reputation: My brother talks with horror about being dragged to see it, even years later. It HAS to be bad. He said it was the video equivalent of castration)
I actually like a lot of “Saraha”. At least the soundtrack rocks! Plot, love story, not so much.
Jackson’s Kong would have been OK if it had been about 90 minutes shorter.
