Worst Movies Of All Time
RiffTrax ^

Posted on 12/28/2012 9:50:24 PM PST by chessplayer

The stars and writers of Mystery Science Theater 3000 have carried our bad movie passion/fixation/incurable mental condition forward at RiffTrax.com. You spend enough time with bad movies, you’re gonna wind up arguing over which ones are truly the worst. Rather than fight it out tooth-and-nail among ourselves, risking possible tooth injury or even nail damage, we put the question to our fans. A record-setting 500,000 votes later, we’ve got the list. RiffTrax's first annual Worst Movies of All Time list. This is it. No more fighting. Because nobody fights about lists on the internet, right? Right??

I hate to say this but, if you don’t like Mel Brooks movies then you need to get to a doctor and have him check your sense of humor. I believe there are treatments out there now to inject one into people with humor deficiencies.

Love Michael Nelson and Rifftrax. This Island Earth MST version (netflix) is extremely funny.

My favorite bad movie has got to be John Carpenter's Big Trouble in Little China. Over-the-top acting by Kim Cattrall (when she was at least not unattractive) and Kurt Russell ("It's all in the reflexes"), a plot with holes so big you can drive Jack Burton's semi through it ("Who?... Jack Burton! Me!"). It has also spawned the only worthwhile bit of gangnam-style parody (YouTube "Lo-Pan style"... they even get James Hong to cameo in the parody!) there is... god, I hate that song!

I can't go a week without finding at least one quote from the movie that is appropriate and hilarious. So long as you go into the movie expecting terrible, you'll have a blast...

Zardiz is my choice — I fell asleep in the theater!

A coworker and his wife went to see it. He didn’t know it was a “fake-u-mentory.” It scared the crap out of him.

His wife let him keep believing until he found out on his own.

On Christmas Eve, I was looking for a film my sons would like. I found one that I thought everyone would like - a comedy about hunting.

Escanaba in da Moonlight.

Worst.film.ever!

I want to cancel netflix now.

“Santa Claus Conquers The Martians” is definitely one of the great so-bad-it’s-good movies. Really cheesy “special” effects (cardboard box robot with painted on dials in anatomically appropriate places), stilted cornball dialogue delivered absolutely deadpan by a mixture of actors ranging from actually pretty good but old school theatrical (Santa or the “sage” on Mars who appears and disappears in a comically bad puff of smoke, they had timing problems, bless their hearts), on down to what appears to have been the director’s clueless in-laws in spottily applied green face paint with hose-bedecked green helmets as “Martians.” they’ve got a sort of union thug air about them, lol.

Throw in a couple of really cute kids who try their darnedest to play their roles, a very period 60’s sensibility that veers into “ZAP! POW!” Batman campiness at the drop of a hat (released in 1964) and you have a very wacky, very fun bad movie.

It’s on YouTube in it’s entirety if you want to give it a spin, lol.

Roger Corman’s ‘Fantastic Four’...beyond bad. Budget must have been around a hundred dollars.

I have three movies that, if they aren’t on the list, should be:

The Piano (I clapped in the theater when the piano dragged her down)

The Hours (I said “Thank God” as her body bumped along the stream bed)

Autumn in New York (This one is on the list by reputation: My brother talks with horror about being dragged to see it, even years later. It HAS to be bad. He said it was the video equivalent of castration)

Not everyone feels that way...my brother still mentions the fact I asked him to watch it with me, as I saw it by myself, and couldn’t believe it.

Well if you are talking Box Office, the worst movie ever is Zzyx Road, 2006. Open in one Theater, $30 box office and that was the end. How any movie with hottie Katherine Heigl in it can draw $30 is beyond me.

I haven’t taken time to read through all the posts here, but “The Trial of Billy Jack” is, without question, the worst movie ever made.

Everything else is fighting for second place.

Perhaps the worst movie of all time is “The Sound of Music”—Although it is actually well-made, its dark and dreary story, with songs that focus on the dark side of human nature will leave the audience feeling depressed and hopeless.

“Mars Attacks; with Pierce Brosnan, Jack Nicolhson, Jack Nicolhson, and Jack Nicolhson”

No way, any film with the decapitated head of Horse Face lefty Sarah Jessica Parker has redeeming qualities.

The “Happening” is the movie that Dennis Miller said was so bad that it is the movie that all other bad movie should be compared to.

I think he also said jokingly that movies like this might prove that Shyamalan could have stole “The Sixth Sense.”
