Our kittehs are members of our families and each one is an individual with their very own personalities, likes and dislikes. She will need time to grieve, but tell her one of the best ways to heal is to rescue a kitten or two from a shelter. That way, she is allowing the love she had for her lost one to continue with a new one and it honors the one she lost by saving a new life. They really DO heal our hearts - I know it from first hand experience.

Condolences...Been there,done that.
My story has a pretty happy ending....My big ol Boog,a large gray cat with golden eyes, big soft body and shorter-than-normal tail, was the light of our lives. He lived 16 years before succumbing to kidney failure. He died in my arms and my heart was broken.
Afew days later, while at work, still feeling yucky,I suddenly had this voice in my head saying "go to Petsmart...Go to Petsmart..." Mind you, although I had two cats,Boog and Rusty,i'd always gone to Walmart or the grocery store for their needs.Never set foot in Petsmart before that, for any reason.Don't know why;just didn't.
The nagging feeling followed me all day. After work,I went to petsmart-immediately walking over to the adoption center as if guided there.I walked in,saw the two front cages occupied by the cutest little babies ever. I played with them a minute or two, tears coming up in my eyes, when out of the corner of my eye I see this little striped paw coming out of a cage on the far end of he row, next to the wall.Curious,I looked in-and saw the fattest, sweetest, most beautiful little girl kitty in the whole wide world!!! She looked at me,meowed that adorable little cooing purr-type meow that touches your heart, and rubbed against my hand as if she'd known me forever.Beautiful pale-green eyes locked with mine, and my heart just leapt with joy. The attendant said she had just been brought in and they hadn't even had time to put a card on the front of her cage. He pulled her folder and said her name was Precious. I immediately said, "No,that's what she IS. Her name is Penny."
Six years later, Princess Penny Too-Fat (She who must be obeyed) is still just as sweet, just as precious and loved so much-and I credit my old friend Boog for guiding me to her. She is so much like him-short legs, big soft body,shorter-than-normal tail, and, like Boog, not big on people food, but loves tuna fish.Boog's still with us-we have his ashes in a little ceramic urn by the window, since that was his favorite spot-and his spirit is alive and well in Penny.

Basement cats are the best! I’m sorry for her loss - give her some time and then when the time is right, another furry friend will be blessed with her love.
