Worst: “It’s A Wonderful Life”

There is more than myself who hates that movie, I always knew there was another. What a horrible example to set. Everything is going wrong? get drunk, attempt suicide and everything will work out just fine?

Does “Die Hard” count?... Sure it does "Welcome to the party pal!" and who can forget "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow"?

All you have to do is "come out to da coast and we'll have a few laughs." Just let them know: "now I have a machine gun, ho, ho, ho" and remember these words to the wise: "the next time you have a chance to kill someone, ...don't hesitate."

As for me, in addition to celebrating the real meaning of Christmas; the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to save us from our sin. Perennial favorite films at our house are "A Christmas Story" - "I want a Red Ryder, lever action BB gun" ..."no kid, you'll shoot your eye out." and "It's a Wonderful Life" ..."Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings" ..."that's right, way to go Clarence." :o)

Merry CHRISTmas!

Merry CHRISTmas!

best : Elvis the Rocking Reindeer! and recent Theater version of Nativity Story.

worst : march of the wooden soldiers - it freaked me out as a kid when the soldiers kept going even as parts of them broke off.

me too and on top of that I hope that little ugly kid does put his eye out with his BB gun. Last year one of the channels ran it over and over all day and all night.

I was 10 years old when the Magoo version came out. Jim Backus and company were very good voicing the thing. I can still sing some of the songs.

I have loved Holiday Inn since I was a kid. For some reason our local TV station only played it in the middle of the night, so my grandma and I used to sit up and watch it together every year.

A few years ago I found the DVD at WalMart and now I can watch it anytime I want. The songs, the dancing, Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire!

” I’m fuzzy about why he took it though.”

He promised the baby Jesus that if he got a little red wagon for Christmas, he would give the baby Jesus a ride in it. Sure enough, he got the little red wagon he wanted, and took baby Jesus on a ride through the neighborhood in the wagon before bringing the baby Jesus back to the church.

My absolute favorite is the really, REALLY old version of “A Christmas Carol”. Black and white and the film is still a bit grainy. I’ve loved watching the old ones (there are two versions) since I was a little girl. I try to never miss it.

Ok... the last time I saw that I was a kid... I always thought I was the only one that remembered such a thing. Geez they have everything on youtube.

” None better than Mr. Magoo ! I haven’t seen that in years, but I always found it very touching.”

Amen! The best ever. “Where are two shoes to click to my clack...”

My 2 all-time favorites are “Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer” (have it on DVD and just saw it yesterday with my kids) and
“White Christmas” with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye.

"I think this is the kind of charity (borderline welfare?) that Ayn Rand was against."

I think Rand was right about many things, but ultimately, I think it is her views on altruism and selfless sacrifice that render Objectivism non-viable as a socio-economic philosophy.

My annual Christmas movie list:
Christmas Story
Badder Santa
The Ref
Die Hard
Nightmare Before Christmas
and the latest addition Rare Exports

Most enjoyed with one of the Christmas beers from Ridgeway (Criminally Bad Elf, Reindeer Revolt, Santa’s Butt etc). I’m really more into a grown up Christmas.

Thank you. It was bothering me that I couldn’t remember the story, especially since I had seen just about every episode several times. Old age, I guess. :)

What bothers me most about Elf is that USA network insists on repeating it for days at a time. My brother thinks it's the best Christmas movie ever made; so when I'm at his house on Christmas, he has the tv set tuned into Elf for the whole day. Ugh!

Now I know why there is at least one case every year of some family argument on Christmas where someone ends up stabbed or shot.

Thank you so much, Lees Swrd! I truly love the oldie but goodies. I adore the 1935 version (entitled “Scrooge”) with Seymour Hicks. I think my absolute favorite is the 1938 version with Reginald Owen. I even purchased the DVD with Owen to make sure I see it. “God bless us, everyone”.
