Prayer For Missing Cat
NA | 3 Dec 2012 | EC

Posted on 12/03/2012 9:16:02 AM PST by edpc

One of our cats (LT - short for Little Thing) got out the other night while taking out the dogs. She is a very special cat and we have spent a lot of time trying to find her. Please pray for her safe return.

If those on the kitty ping list have any suggestions that may lead her back home, I would appreciate it. We leave the garage door slightly up at night with food hoping she'll find her way.

Picture below.

Beautiful kitty. He/she looks like she’s been poking in the fireplace ashes. I hope she finds her way home.

I have a similar story to this one, although it doesn’t involve one of my cats or a cat belonging to a friend...

One evening shortly after we moved into our house, I heard meowing coming from the roof. It was almost dark outside, so I got a flashlight and went into my back yard to see what I could find. As soon as I shined the light up to the edge of the roof, a black and white kitten walked toward my light. I then went to the garage and got a ladder so I could get him down.

Since he walked right up to me, I figured he had to belong to someone, so I posted pictures of him around the neighborhood asking to call my cell phone if anyone wanted to claim him. And sure enough, someone did. It turned out he’d been missing from home for over a week, and his home was several blocks away (though his owners did have to turn in on the same street we do when they went to and from their home).

He probably decided he needed to get out of the house for a bit, and then found himself on a strange roof. :)

Father
We ask you to help us find
our dear pet who is now lost.
We know that you placed animals on the earth
for many reasons, including companionship for man.
We therefore ask you to help us find our lost companion,
and pray that You will keep him (her) safe
and protect him (her) from harm until he (she) is found.
We join our prayers with St. Francis,
St. Anthony of Padua, and all the saints,
and pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Prayers for the return of your baby.

Because their eyes are so reflective I use a flashlight day and night to locate them.

It's heart breaking to lose a furry friend. A dog of mine was missing two weeks before a family responded to an ad I put in the paper. I was a mess over it.

Also, one day a white cat emerged from the woods behind the house. I left food for it where I'd seen it and the cat returned. Eventually it accepted me and hung around a lot.

I put ads in the paper, called local vets and put up telephone pole signs, and got a phone call just a few days later.

The cat had been missing for 6 months! The family's car pulled up at the house and a young boy ran toward the cat squealing its name. The joy of that family who had given up on their fur baby was a million bucks to me. And probably a zillion bucks to his family.

My husband had an “indoor cat” that got out once (before we were married). The cat was gone for over two weeks, just showed up on the porch one day. Skinny and looking kind of raggedy, but fine and glad to be home. Good luck to you.

Heartfelt prayers, humbly offered up for the return of your precious Little Thing. May she return soon as if nothing happened, and may you have many happy years with her sticking close to home and you always.

We really don’t have cats figured out at all, as much as we’d like to think we do. You can call them incessantly, jiggle their favorite toy or food dish, bring out the most fragrant sardines, and they will just sit in hiding watching you make a fool of yourself if it is not in their mind to be found.

They really are from another planet.

4) Don’t even bother looking in the daytime. They have changed to entirely nocturnal and maybe a little dusk or dawn routine.

Years ago somebody gave me a beautiful female Siamese cat. I was showing her to my neighbor when a car drove by. The cat tried to wiggle away, and I held her tighter. She chomped down on my hand, driving her fangs right through my knuckles. I hel on as long as I could and finally had to let got, whereupon she leapt from my arms and took off.

I went to the hospital for emergency treatment, and the doc said, "Please tell me that this was your won cat that bit you." "Yes, except I'd only owned her an hour before it happened." The doc scowled and said, "You have to find that cat within a week, or you'll have to undergo rabies treatment."

We look and called and notified all the neighors. Nothing. We drove around the nearby neighborhoods at night looking for her. Do you know how many cars hang out under cars in urban neighborhoods? A lot of them. We put food for her on the deck and in the garage with the door ajar.

3 days later I woke up early on a Sat. morn. and spotted my other cat (an orange tiger Tom) sitting outside the garage like he was on guard. We pt on robe and slippers (and garden gloves) and snuck out to the garage and slipped in. There was my Siamese cat sitting on a pile of lumber in the far recesses of the garage looking smug.

We captured her and locked her up for a month with no further incident. We named her Skitty and owned her for many years afterward.

Prayers up for your kitty. - We have one that is a “wildcat”. Won’t stay in the house; likes adventure. Goes down the driveway where the rattlesnakes hang out and hangs out with them; then behind the storm cellar where the bobcats hang out, and other places where who knows what hangs out, then on the porch where the dogs hang out. I called her “Lambchop” for awhile, but the neighbors over the hill burst out laughing and hollered “LAMBCHOP!!?”, so I finally changed it to BRUTUS. (She also tries to kill me periodically by biting my legs then running under the bed shaking with glee; made me fall a while back doing that.) She is a one-girl wrecking crew in the house, knocks stuff off tables and counters onto the floor, tears up dried flower arrangements all over the floor - never seen anything like it.

I hope she comes home. We live in the country and let our 3 cats out mostly at night, we have coon and other wild animals
we have done this for 30 years at this place, they are all neutered and don’t seem to wander.
