Suppose Romney wins, Obamacare is repealed...What will they arrange in the meantime?
Is it possible for health insurance to be similar in dynamics to auto insurance? Multiple companies compete across state lines to win my business with the lowest possible premiums with a plethora of program choices? It's what I want. I want choices and power to choose. Can they possibly inject competition into the health insurance industry?
That’s pretty much how ObamaCare will work for states with GOP state majorities. If the governors and state houses refuse to implement a state health exchange, then the state defaults to the national exchange with multiple health insurance companies that will all compete for your business.
No. The liberals have already forced too many mandates on the companies for them to ever be able to offer a "plethora" of choices at many price points.
I’m skeptical of that.
What bits and pieces of Obamacare continue to burden us financially and with the IRS as overseer?
No turning it back?
Here’s our problem.
Romney has said he’d repeal it, and replace it. Not get government out of it.
Instead of getting government out of our healthcare entirely, he’ll just replace it with a republican form of obamacare. Because that’s what it is going to be, as long as the fedgov folks decide they want to control healthcare.
He has also said he will downsize government and reduce the debt. Ain’t no way that happens by increasing the number of people getting health care goodies from the government.
What about Congress? Is there any responsiveness to constituent noise?
Rudy G actually had the best health insurance plan back in 2008 - the good old...er the not-as-bad-as-this old days.
Feeling a little hopeless:/
If you are skeptical of that, you need to read the part of the bill that deals with federal exchanges. That’s how they work.
You will literally log into a website, plug in your income and family size, choose a plan (bronze, silver, gold, platinum) and the you get a list of private health insurance companies that give you their rates with a minimum defined coverage but can offer more than the minimum to out compete the other companies.
If you make between 133 and 400 percent of the 2014 poverty guidelines, you get subsidized through tax credits to pay for your plan. A family of 4 with a silver plan and making 50k a year would pay $282 for a silver plan with a private health carrier. Here’s a rough cost calculator:
That’s exactly right. If you think Romney will do something different, you’re in lala land. He will bring in the same team from Boston that helped him construct the MA system, tweak it enough to stamp it “conservative” but it will be essentially the same.
Keep in mind that the three architects of RomneyCare: Jon Kingsdale, Jon Gruber and John McDonough all met with Obama MULTIPLE times IN THE WHITE HOUSE in 2009 to help design and put the final touches on ObamaCare. Those three still speak with the Romney team!!!
Interesting phrasing. Actively? No.
But can you actively 'inject' space into a hoarder's apartment? Well ...
You can remove all the crap, and effectively 'inject space' into a hoarder's apartment ... but only by the removal of things. You can not put a 'thing' there that will create space. To do so would be to be a democrat.
So yes and no. Applies to the economy too. Can Mitt fix it? Of course not. Not actively. What he can do is a version of what John Galt said ... Get out of the way
In government terms, this means simplify and reduce regulation and taxation. Then you will have what you want in any industry. It will never be perfect, but it will always be the least worst, which flourishes.
I don’t feel hopeless. Right now the most important thing is getting the gay commie muslim and his wookie beard out of the White House.
Then we go to work pounding on Romney to roll back the sh1t that the commie put in place.
How responsive he is to this determines whether he gets the boot in 2016. I have no problem kicking anyone’s ass out of there. I don’t care who they are if they are leading the country to ruin, they’re gone.
If they think we’ll blindly support them they don’t understand 2010 or the Walker recall rejection.
Hate to break it to you but Obamacare is already the Republican version of Obamacare.
If it is, or isn’t, doesn’t really matter. Either way it’s basically a choice of turd sandwich on white or rye. If it’s “replaced” that isn’t the solution. JUST REPEAL, NO REPLACE.
Ha - okay. With you on that. It just seems that no one is voicing an option for the everyday person - which is competing insurance companies offering multiple options for consumers. Competing companies are much better than what the government can offer. Auto insurance is a prime example.
I don’t want policy made by pharma or socialists.
I can go with this. But WILL they? Who is talking about it? It seems the rhetoric is about something else besides getting out of the way.
What would be effective to communicate to my representative and senator so that they will vote for “getting out of the way”?
If Romney and Ryan lived in a country where they were about to take over as Kings, they would slash regulation and taxes, and leave a safetynet so that no one in Staten Island froze to death waiting for electricity.
But "Will They?" rests entirely on "Can They?" ... and that goes to the house and senate ... and to some extent SCOTUS. Long term for American - the most consequential outcome of this election is that SCOTUS can be turned from sometimes rational to reliably rational. As for the senate and house, well I think that most democrats will wisely take the repudiation that is about to happen that they best change their ways and cooperate. The election of Mitt is in a way historic for conservatives in that we are screaming "NO! Turn off the Gridlock for a couple Years!" ... so that Romney can effectively rollback most ostensibly Obamacare, but then also deal with structuring taxes and regulation in a way that works economically.
Many conservatives at the statemet "Capitalism is a Government Program. " But it is - it's based on contracts which must be enforced and interpreted, and yes, there must be some tax, because even though 'You DID build it" ... you do also use roads, and you need regulation to some extent. What would a soccer match be without ANY rules? it wouldn't be soccer - would just be chaos.
The most important thing you can do to make sure "But Will They?" is answered in the affirmative, is to make sure you master the Constitution and understand economics - just enough to understand why JFK's oft referenced tax cuts raised revenue - how that works - and what Mitt means by 'reduce taxes, increase the base.' None of this is complicated. When they get complicated, you know you're being lied to.
If you can converse with libs confidently and without losing your head (it's actually quite fun - the less you lose your head, the more they do) ... then that's your contribution - people silently say 'hmmm, the guy seems congruent with what he says' ... many will not credit you, but many will change their minds.
In terms of interacting with government itself - understand the interests of politicians. If you do this without judging them (they DO deserve to be judged, but not in this excercise) ... they are motivated by where they see the sheep and lemmings run ... and then they go there first to look like leaders. So, lead the sheep and lemmings around you quietly. Influence their direction, so that they run towards where you want the pol to place himself.
Other than that - being super educated on not so much the debate about the issues but the underlying facts, and more importantly on the foundational principles which govern and simplify the billion individual issues into about two issues ... consider running for office.
Above all, be a happy warrior. Remember that the Republic, in this incarnation, can not last forever. Liberty came from God and not a government document. Maybe it's 50 years hence, maybe 200 ... doesn't matter ... that this Republic changes physical form. Carry principle with you, and you will influence more lives than if you make dramatic arguments and seek a means of being more persuasive.
Liberty was actually here before you got here, so it can't be destroyed. And so there is no reason, ever, to let your peace be disturbed by knowing there are those who would reduce it and destroy it. Ironically, your peace is what people latch onto more than your arguments when determining whether to follow you or not.
So true and so profound. I am adopting your paradigm!
Onward to the future!
A toast to health care liberty!
I am one with the Constitution and it is one with me.
Vaya con Dio, USA!
Vade cum Deus, meus amicus.
